Fictional Holidays you celebrate

As it happens, “Talk Like a Pirate Day” is on our anniversary, so it’s sometimes incorporated into the larger celebration.

But I’d like to add the version of Catmas as practiced by Bucky in Get Fuzzy

“Bashing on a snake
with a shovel and a rake…”

Festivus. I mean, you have the aluminum pole, with a very high strength to weight ratio, the airing of grievances, and the feats of strength. All good!

I almost forgot- I also celebrate National Gorilla Suit Day, which according to writer Mark Evanier (Groo et al) is January 31. Unfortunately, Mr. Evanier is for legal reasons no longer able to use Don Martin drawings or promote the holiday on his website, so from 2008 on I will be celebrating my own unique, similar but legally distinct holiday, American Ape Costume 24-Hour Period.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

3/14 is Pi Day!

Yeah, let’s put that to a vote and see how many guys prefer pi day.

beethoven’s birthday on dec. 16th. i usually put some beethoven on the player and decorate the house for christmas/solstice/yule.

leif eriksen day on oct. 9th. the viking boat is launched, rowed around the river a bit, and a wreath is placed at leif’s statue.

i usually take the day off when evanovich’s new book hits the stores in june or july.

I say we combine them: steak, BJ and pie day.

I’m another who was completely charmed by Prehistoric Creatures Day, and will be ‘adopting’ (i.e. buying at the dollar store) some Prehistoric Creatures so we can take them out to dinner. Now, is it every Friday the 13th? Someone set me clear on this!

I also enjoy Talk Like a Pirate Day. This is part of the reasons why I think I’m the odd person in my office.

What’s the highest # of BJs you given in celebration on any one holiday?

Well, I usually try to take a day to remember the trinity…

The atomic Trinity, every July 16th!

I really keep meaning to celebrate Yuri’s Night.

And, technically, like many others, I only celebrate a bastardized, corrupted version of Christmas compared to the original incarnation. But hey, what’s Christmas without elves and talking snow-creatures and rampant materialism?

I celebrate Mr. T’s birthday too! It also happens to be mine, but that’s just a coincidence.

I came in here to mention Festivus, glad to see it only had to get to post #4 for a mention! A Festivus for the rest of us!
