Watching the pre-game commentary, it looks like they’ve substantially switched up their positioning to a much more defensive stance. They’re really depending on Wambach to get those crosses with some support from newly starting Cheney.
Should be 3-0 US in the 13th.

Exactly. Frustrating their opponents despite having close calls is the way Japan has beaten the supposedly better teams.
Although I predict that the US will manage to score on a corner one of these times, even though Japan’s done a good job in the previous games as well.
edit: That miss was just really unlucky, so maybe the US will be encouraged to keep trying.

As I was watching I just noticed there was something missing…I realized I didn’t have a headache from the stupid vuzuvelas from the men’s world cup.
Someone must have really put their foot down about those terrible things.
Something tells me Germany is more proactive about controlling the environmental aspects of the World Cup than the South Africans. But we are all thankful.

Tied 0-0 at half time, US has outshot Japan by a huge margin, 12-4 at the end of this half. The US looks to be dominating the possession so far, but man oh man have they had a lot of close shots. They really need to capitalize on those opportunities early in the second half!
