Film I worked on finally to open nationally.

Way back, I posted this threadin which I was all excited because the film I worked on for years got into Sundance. Then Spike Lee put his name on it, and it got picked up for distribution by IFC films.

After years of struggle, CSA: The Confederate States of America is finally being released nationally! I’m extremely proud of the work I’ve done on this film, and I hope a few dopers will go to see it (and spread the word…)

Several dopers have expressed interest in seeing it, and it’s not getting a ton of publicity, so here are the dates as I know them.

If you go see it, please let me know what you think.

That sounds VERY cool!!! I’ll keep an eye out for it (Boston area). Congratulations!

That’s awesome! Very exciting for you.

I’d be very, very interested in seeing this - any way that we Canucks will be able to get our hands on it?

Distribution has been… interesting. We’re lucky to have come this far.

I’ll ask about Canadian distro in the future. It will be coming out on DVD at some point, though, and it might play on the Independent Film Channel, but that’s not assured at this point.

I shall have to convince my girlfriend to go see it when it comes here (I’m only about 30 or less minutes from the Nashville theater you mentioned).

Could you give a brief summary of what it’s about?

www.csathemovie.com

It’s an alternate history. Basically, the American South won the civil war and slavery spread north. This is a modern day BBC documentary about the CSA shown for the first time on Confederate Television. It follows a presidential candidate and discusses his famous ancestors. The movie includes commercial breaks from Confederate tv.

In this alternative history, are Kansas and Missouri no longer part of the US?

Indeed it looks like a cool movie. Minor nitpick - sorry - by any chance if you happen to know the web designers… can you ask that the site not start playing music right away with no apparent way of turning it off? Kind of startling.

That dates are set up that way because they’re from an email sent by a local theater promoter… so the KS and MO dates are separated out.

Just thought it was funny because it reminded me of a Simpsons quote about Missouri. CSA does look like an interesting film, but I’ll probably have to wait for the DVD. I look forward to seeing it!

I wish it was closer than Grand Rapids, Michigan.

However, let us know when it is released onto DVD, please.

good job, fella. good to see that you’re being able to reap the fruits of your labor.
it comes to buffalo…i do believe i may see it. it certainly does SOUND interesting.

I am gonna try to go see it, that looks awesome!

It looks like they have the venues for Scranton, PA and Wilmington, DE reversed, btw.
