What does that have to do with his opinion on movies? I agree with his assessment but does my opinion not matter because I like Michael Crichton? If so, yours doesn’t matter because you like sports. It’s about as relevant to the discussion as Tears for Fears or The Andromeda Strain.
Because this thread is about movies and Trek is a TV show. Granted, there’re ten movies but except for one of them, they’re all mostly ignored “The Wrath of Khan” is the only one most average people could name although “that one with whales” would probably come in second.
Which is more annoying: your dysfunctional family that you have to see every holiday or your best friend’s mom and dad who you only see every three or four months for ten or fifteen minutes while you’re waiting for him or her to find their car keys?
It was kind of joke. I guess I forgot to put the or whatever the appropriate smiley should’ve been. I really don’t have an opinion of TfF; the only song of theirs I can think of offhand is “Sewing the Seeds of Love”.
I asked for, and got, a new copy of “Wayne’s World” for Christmas. Party on!
The fact that it has a little footage of Alice Cooper had nothing to do with it. Really.
It’s not a movie, exactly – but obsessive Dr. Who fans, or “Scarfs,” are despised as annoying, clueless geeks even by other SF fans – all of whom, needless to say, have long since crossed over to the Dork Side.
Can I get nitpicky for a sec? It wasn’t that she had to wear pins; it was the passive-aggressive, mealy-mouthed, annoying way that the manager told her that she wasn’t wearing enough pins, and the fact that not only did he tell her (without actually coming out and saying so) to wear more pins, but that he couldn’t even call them pins; he had to have a stupid, annoying, name for them, i.e. “flair”.
I mean, be fair. Saying Office Space was about wearing pins is kind of like saying The Ten Commandments was about a guy who went on a trip.
Right, I get it…it’d be kinda like saying my post was about Office Space being about wearing pins.
And for the record, I’ve waited tables/managed restaurants for the past four years. Trust me, I understand all about flair. In the right context, there’s a joke there. In Office Space, it’s just fodder for another “management is evil” gag.
I’ll take Waking Life for $500, Alex. Maybe it’s not really that popular, and maybe it doesn’t have a huge legion of fanatical fans. But I happen to know three of them and they drive me insane. Its. Not. That. F’ing. Interesting.
I’ve always thought Office Space had a really great first act. The rest of the movie isn’t anything special.
What?! I need to get a life? But I just finished my Lonely Goatherd costume for the next SoM Con! I’ve even been practicing my yodeling. It was going to be even beter than last years nun costume. sigh
Well, what can I do? If some guy who runs a trivia site on the internet thinks I need a life I guess I should listen.
Um … so how does one get one of those “a life” thingys?
Jeepers, how often do you watch movies you do like?
My nomination would be Prince of Tides. I guess that was as much the book as the movie. It had some nice parts, but come on! And the people who loooove it treat it as if it had some deep philosophy in it, it changed their life. I just didn’t get it at all. It was often difficult to even be polite.
