Pittsburgh has the lowest ERA in Baseball…
Chew on that for a while.
Well, it probally will not last for long.
It is even tougher being a Pirate fan.

Wow, I just saw my first MLB replay call. I’m watching the Indians/Yankees and it is clear that a fan interfered with Crowe’s catch. This should be overturned.
Of course, I was wrong. Replay is as useless in MLB as it is in the NFL.
Says the fan of the Super Bowl champion Arizona Cardinals.
Toronto wins 1-0.
This is - incredibly to me, anyway - the first time in the history oft he Blue Jays franchise they have won the first four series of the year.
In first for at least two more days! Woot!
One of the things that makes baseball great is there’s usually another game tomorrow. After yesterday’s debacle, getting a chance to win today makes things easier. That being said, I’m shocked at how decent Pavano pitched today. That SOB was absolutely useless for 4 years.
Well, that’s more like it. Orioles get swept by the Red Sox.
Although, on the positive side, Uehara made another very good start for the O’s today, giving up just 5 hits and 2 runs over 7 innings. If he can get some run support, he might get quite a few wins for Baltimore this year.
The Padres almost managed to sweep the Phillies, but gave up a two-ruin homer in the bottom of the ninth to lose 5-4.
WOOT! Reds take two of three on the road from the Sinking Fastros in Houston. On to the Cubs. I hope we beat the snot out of them…
Even if they pulled off the win they wouldn’t have had the sweep just yet. There’s another game tomorrow night.
But, I was thrilled to see Ibanez pull off that game winning home run. I think he is going to fit in fine. He’s a better field and baserunner than Pat (And, I liked him a lot.) So, I hope he keeps playing well.
I am going to miss Harry Kalas. But, I have really really enjoyed all of the tributes they have had the past few days. The Phillies have done an awesome job of remembering him. I hope the Phils hit a homer the next time I am the game so I can hear the Outta Here call. I am sure I will get chills.
The best thing I can say about the game today - other than a starter giving us 6 - is at least we lost by 4 and not 3 (that call was on a 3-run dinger).
They still play baseball in Pittsburgh. Huh.
If it was Jeffrey Meier, it’s tradition.
Anyone been to the new stadium yet? How’s it compare?
I had to turn off the TV in the sixth because we had company over, and I haven’t seen the replay, but I’ve read the reports and they say nothing about the Indians filing a protest. From all accounts I’ve read it seems to me that they should. Even the Yankees announcers were calling it interference before the ruling.
You must have been hearing a different broadcast than I was. The announcers I heard said they agreed with the umpire, that the ball was over the wall, and would have bounced off the chest of one fan, but another fan was also trying for the ball and it then bounced back onto the field. If there was interference, it was between the two members of the audience, not with the player on the field. It was replayed in slow motion from several different angles.
Is it that hard to hit homers in Seattle? Both the Tigers and Settle blasted some balls that just reached the warning track. I remember one homer all weekend.
Tigers are pitching better than expected. Rumor is if they drop into a slump they will shop Cabrera around and rebuild.
You can’t protest in this situation. Well, you could try, but it’d be dismissed out of hand.
Well, I’m sure it will be played over and over and over, so I’ll get a chance to see it. Ah well, Royals tomorrow.
Yeah, Safeco is a pitcher’s park.
I don’t follow the Washington Nationals, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen 4 relief pitchers involved in a roster change on the same day.
The Nationals/Expos have been a mess for years. Still, this move, in addition to the stupid Elijah Dukes benching after the even more stupid Lastings Milledge demotion, makes me wonder if this team has gone absolutely nuts.
Will Acta make it to May? Probably not. The way the Nationals are going, George W. Bush might be their next manager.
The Nationals are like a black baseball hole. Honestly, could most folks outside of the immediate area name four Nats? Will they ever field a good team? Would anyone on the planet notice if they vanished?
Anyway… Jays lose 5-4 but still in first, yaaay.
I shouldn’t complain at 10-5 but holy moly am I starting to hate Alex Rios. I’ve never been a huge fan and last year he drove the Greater Toronto Area to drink with his frequent brain sprains in the field and on the bases. This year he seems to have stopped trying entirely. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a physically talented hitter swing the bat worse, and he pulled a real bonehead play in the outfield just to add to the fun.
Vernon Wells’s at bat to end the game was also amazingly bad. Wow, is his contract going to end up being an albatross.
Well, if anyone follows sports radio they’ll probably know.
Of course, Milledge doesn’t count right now…
Speaking of the Nationals. Is this for real?

Just did a search. Yup. For real. And pretty funny. How can that happen?
