Finally Beat Level 20 in Slay the Spire!

In December after over 1500 hours I finally beat Level 20 for the first time with the Ironclad. Now today, I was able to do it with the Silent. Happy I was able to do it but a touch disappointed it wasn’t its own achievement to mark the occasion.

I have a ways to go with the Defect and Watcher as they are only at levels 14 and 16 respectively.

Congratulations; from the videos I’ve watched, it’s not easy. Did you get any tips from the internet, or have you mostly figured things out on your own?

Thanks! Didn’t watch anything online that I can remember. Mostly it was just playing it a ton and getting lucky combos of cards and relics. The Silent was much harder than the Ironclad for me. Working on progressing on the other two characters.

I’ve got about 800 hours in this game. I think it’s probably the best game I’ve ever played. It’s just so perfectly balanced with just the right amount of challenge.

I’m at A20 on Iron Clad, Silent and Defect. I think like A4 on Watcher-- It’s just too slow to play her right and I kind of like having something left to accomplish.

I liked the game a lot, but eventually it got boring after 300+ hours of playtime, and haven’t touched it much recently. It had an addicting quality, where sometimes I would keep playing even though I wasn’t sure if I enjoyed it anymore. Eventually I just uninstalled it.

I liked Silent the best and Watcher the least. I like how Silent has overall good quality cards to pick from, and you can build a Silent deck in multiple ways, especially when it comes to defensive options. Ironclad and Defect have a lot more stinker and situational cards to pick from, so you might be offered only poor quality cards multiple times in a row.

I was mainly going for A20 Heart kills. I’m not close to being the best player, but I think I’m pretty good. The best I’ve done is 3 Silent A20 heart kills in a row, and I also did a single set of A20 heart kills with Ironclad, SIlent and Defect each in a row without losing.

I think the current world record for A20 heart kills with rotating the character pick is something ridiculous like 19 wins in a row on A20, although the latest patches have made the game easier to win consistently. It goes to show that winning consistently is very possible even at the highest difficulty level even with the RNG elements.
