Finally! I'm wearing big girl panties!

This is completely mundane and pointless, but I have to share!!! I have just watched a portion of The Wizard of Oz that I have never seen!

Note to Mods: This is really more mundane than it is about the movie itself, I promise.

When I was a child I was scared to death by the monkeys. I couldn’t watch it. I would run from the room or turn the channel. Therefore, that is what I have always done. Well, tonight I’m at a different point in my life.

I’m 40.

I’m tired.

I don’t have the energy to turn the channel. Plus, I realize that my fear is childish. I’m going into a new phase in my life and this is just the first of many things that I am going to prove to myself that I can do! I’m gonna the Wizard of Oz without turning the channel or looking away.

I don’t think I have ever seen the men with the green faces before! :stuck_out_tongue: Wow, this is all new!!

Has anyone else faced their fears lately?? Maybe it won’t be so bad!

If that was scary, don’t watch Return to Oz. The claymation for the mountain king and the electrotherapy machine still creep me out.

On the plus side, it has a talking chicken.

Oh le Oh, OOh Oh

Flying monkeys aren’t really all that scary … unless they are flying out of your butt. That’s just not good.

I can’t handle the schoolteacher scene in Gremlins.

Flying monkeys are kid stuff. We have giant flying cockroaches. Now THOSE will weird you out.

For me, in the Wizard of Oz, it was the trees grabbing at you. Creeped me out big time! Had big deal nightmares, and would not watch the movie for a very long time. I don’t know how old I was.

I would like to point out that I was most disappointed when I opened the thread and there actually was nothing about big girls panties.

Hmmmm, perhaps that was something I should not have shared.

It was the witch on the bicycle for me. One the floor, cowering.

For me–no matter how much I know it’s an urban legend–that scene in the forest after Dorothy and company exit stage right and something moves in the trees always sends a little chill through me.

Also, I’m going to try and get on an elevator at some point soon.

No, no! It’s a tra

p!

I will open and respond to any thread with the word “panties” in the title. I love the word: panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties, panties!

Yum.

Around our house, when the kids were young and transitioned from diapers to toilet training, we called pull-up disposable underpants " big boy/girl pants".

I read the OP’s title and thought, holy crap, an articulate thoughtful 3 1/2 year old is now a Doper.

I got nightmares in a major way when the dead witches feet curled up under Dorothy’s house. I used to cover my eyes when it would air every year at that moment. Now I shudder. Still gives me the willies.

I bought some new big girl panties at Victoria’s Secret yesterday. The signature cotton bikinis are the only panties I like. I wear the extra small so I have to look through a lot of panties to find the ones that are my size.

How was that?

You know that scene in Ghostbusters at the beginning, when Ray is talking to the ghost librarian, and she totally explodes into this creepy wispy ugly faced skeleton creature? I was about 21 before I actually got up the nerve to watch that scene without hiding my eyes. It was a bold step forward into adulthood.

I just thought of you while flipping through the channels on the tv. That 70’s Show was on and Donna was finding panties everywhere in Eric’s room (in a little daydream) and then she asks him to explain and surrounded by panties he flings them in the air and says, “panties, glorious panties!”

I know what you mean about the “bold step forward into adulthood.” I feel like I am an adult now. I have watched The Wizard of Oz and actually want to see it again.

There are some great lines in it. Who would have thought???

Good lookin’ out SS!

“Live together, die alone.”

ooooooooooooo
Great! Was it good for you too?
