Jessie freakin’ Ventura! I absolutely love the guy, I have yet to hear him say one thing that I didn’t agree with. I swear he is my brain in a giant body (no pun intended). He and I have such identical views that it shocks me sometimes. (I actualy used the phrase “religion is a crutch” before he was quoted on it)
but for the record, I’ve never liked pro wrestling.
Would you get paid to be a pro wrestler though?
IMHO Thinking that voting for the person that you dont want is not throwing your vote away is funny. Its like saying your voice actually counts for something. It doesen’t 1 or 1000 votes will never matter.
Fine, fine. All the candidates suck. Then who should be president?
1). Someone who is not so wealthy that they have little understanding of the average person’s way of life.
2). Someone who is not steeped in corruption, bribery, payoffs and power trips.
3). Someone who is not power mad.
4). Someone who will not play the lengthy, time consuming political games most politicians play.
5). Someone strong, firm, yet understanding and willing to kick congressional ass.
6). Someone who will knock professional lobbyists out of the Capitol.
7). Someone who freely admits to having toked a few joints, gotten arrested for drinking too much at least once and knows that the US banking industry is now dependent on illegal drug money and foreign oil investments.
8). Someone willing to kick ass out of PCness and start forcing the rewriting, sensibly this time, of many of the new laws.
9). Someone who believes that the government funds should first take care of the people, then the land and environment, then the major businesses and ignore the rich. (On that alone, he/she might not last through the first year.)
10). Someone who believes in a strong military and the need to get further into space.
11). Someone who, if he/she sends in troops to do battle does so with full plans to win the war, defeat the aggressor and put a finish to the problem once and for all. No more situations like Castro, Korea, Vietnam, or not finishing off Sadaam and later being ‘ordered’ out of his country.
12). Someone who finds it outrageous to have people starving and dying on the streets, homeless and or sick in the richest nation in the world while 2% of the population waste more money on toys than it takes to feed a small nation for a week.
13). Someone who will put caps on malpractice suites in order to lower the costs of medical care.
14). Someone who will start forcing the courts to reject/deny stupid and frivolous lawsuits, which might mean using common sense so new judges might have to be appointed.
Harry Browne.
By the way, Satan, dont dismiss Howard Stern unless you are familiar with his political views. I think he’d make a great president.
Part of Jimmy Carter’s problems were caused because he was so alien to Washington politics. I mean, it sounds good on paper to be a complete outsider, and thus uncorrupted, but in reality you have to know how the machine works in order to operate it effectively. In other words, you can’t expect the Congress to vote their conscience. Sad, but true. The President needs to be an excellent negotiator. You’ll reluctantly give them this trade agreement if they’ll reluctantly back your anti-trust bill. Otherwise you end up in gridlock. Poor Jimmy was so pure of heart that he expected everyone in Washington to be true civil servants and to do their job the way the founders intended it.
So, who should the next President be? Personally, I’d pick someone from corporate America to run the government. Someone who has an intimidating presence yet is known for fairness. Someone who could negotiate well. Someone who could use their authority wisely. Someone who could be ruthless when necessary, but know how to work the p.r. machine.
I hear Michael Eisner is looking for work!
