So is Finn a Jedi or not? Looks like he served in the Stormtroopers, but is then seen with a light sabre.
If he’s a Jedi, could he be the love child of Leia and Lando?

I’m just glad you don’t mean this Finn, who is likely the love child of Don King and a leprechaun. It makes me glad too because… light-saber mousse spikes? The Hair-Flip of Death?
“No! Comb Not! Style or Style Not… there is no comb…”
We’ll find out in six weeks or so.
The TV trailer that came out recently drops some strong hints of parental connection between Rey and Han. And how many other black guys in the Star Wars galaxy have we met besides Lando and now Finn?
Lucasfilm seems to be keeping the plot of The Force Awakens under very tight wraps; you can’t even get a plot summary from Wikipedia yet.
I’m gonna try to go into the movie knowing as little as possible about it. I mean, I already know some of the characters’ names, but that’s about it.
Finn may or may not be a Jedi, but Jake the Dog clearly IS…

Well, there was Mace Windu.
Maybe Finn is Luke’s son. Would give a whole new meaning to going to the dark side.
He might be, but I think Rey is the definite future Jedi. Maybe Kylo Ren attacks and wounds(kills?) Finn and Rey has an awakening/epiphany moment. She force-pulls the light saber over and fights off Kylo Ren. It would make some sense since she is already trained using a polearm-like weapon.
Not every black person in Star Wars is a Calrissian.
I don’t think he’s a Jedi, I think he finds the lightsabre in some clumsy and coincidental fashion.
But I have no idea, I’ve avoided spoilers as much as possible, while still desperate to get glimpses of the movie wherever I can.
I am avoiding spoilers but my personal theory from the trailers etc. is Finn is not a Stormtrooper but rather a New Republic Spy. I think he will be trying to Steal something from the Empire (or whatever they call themselves now) and in the beginning crashes on Jakku (the desert world) as a part of his escape. He meets the girl (Rey?) and she is the one who is Force sensitive.
I think the scene of him with a Lightsaber is him improvising when facing the bad guy and not an indication that he is a Jedi.
“Improvising” with a lightsaber when you’re not trained is generally a very short and messy experience.
Finn is Lando’s father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate.
Stick 'em with the glowy end.
Just ask that Tauntaun.
It’s just not Star Wars without a dismemberment or two
And Darth Vader.
