finnegan's wake

so what’s the significance of the name “baby Tuckoo” anyway??

Isn’t “Baby Tuckoo” from the first page of Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man?

Yes.

whoops, sorry i just finished Finnegans wake - got confused…
when i read the preface, of “the Portrait”, it talked about how important that name was .
could someone tell my why???

Tim Finnegan lived in Walkin’ Street
A gentle Irishman mighty odd
He’d a beautiful brogue so rich and sweet
And to rise in the world he carried a hod.
You see, he’d a sort o’ the tipplin’ way
With a love for the liquor poor Tim was born
To help him on with his work each day
He’d a “drop of the cray-thur” every morn.

Whack fol the da now, dance to your partner
Welt the floor your trotters shake
Wasn’t it the truth I told you?
Lots of fun at Finnegan’s Wake.
Goddamnit. That tune’s gonna be stuck in my head all night.

Uke

The first sentence, actually… Once upon a time and a very good time it was there was a moocow coming down along the road and this moocow that was coming down along the road met a nicens little boy named baby tuckoo.

Ukelele Ike: You should hear the Dropkick Murphys do that song…
