Is There a Song or Poem With Your Name?

Is there a song or poem using your name?

I have the poem “Casey at the Bat”: http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/15500

My name actually comes from a song. This one, to be specific.

Yup, an old song too. Old guys used to sing it to me when I was a teenager, which was mortifying.

Thre’s a book.

If I was meant to take after her, it so didn’t work.

This or the more formal this? Both songs I love!

There is one I know of, although I don’t really identify with it very strongly. It’s about half a bee.

The Beatles covered a song whose title includes my first name, and later recorded a song, written by McCartney, whose title is my middle name.

Jain, Jain Bo Bain…

Yes. It’s not very good.

Yup. We used to laugh about this with my ex; a Finnish band has written songs with both my name and his name as the title. Mine is quite beautiful. His…well, the translated lyrics go as follows:

In the field there is a cabin
in the cabin there is Matti
in Matti there is cancer
lallalalallallaa

In the corner there is a bucket
In the bucket there is shit
In the shit there is blood
lallalalallallaa.

There’s a children’s song about a turtle.

I don’t like talking about it.

Sort of. It’s actually a video with my name in subtitles, while playing an existing song. I’m surprised there’s even that.

At least two songs with my birth name, one by James Taylor, one by Ellegarden. None that I know of with my chosen other name (though it’s Gaelic, so there’s like a dozen different variant spellings…one of them might).

No, but I have several songs credited to my name, and my forum name is a custom guitar by alembic.

Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. Both first and last names make an appearance, but in separate verses.

Paul McCartney sang my name back in the days when I hated it and insisted on using a nickname. I eventually got over it.

Yes. A song that came from a poem, in fact.

Bruce Springsteen says my name three or four times in “Born to Run.” I’m not really a Bruce fan, but I will listen to “Born to Run” in its entirety anytime I come across it so I can hear my name. (I may be a little vain.)

The Beach Boys had a fairly lame song about me also.

There was a TV show with my first name. Fairly beloved, though I never got into it.

Google says yes, but it’s not a poem I’m ever heard before. Ditto for a couple of songs. There’s a Prince song I do know with a common nickname of my name, but I’ve never gone by that nickname.

But on a cuter note, I have a beautiful goddaughter named Teaghan (“Tee-gun”). She’s rather reserved as a rule, but one day when she was a wee thing of about 4, her mom came downstairs to see her dancing ecstatically in the living room to “her song”. You know, the one by ABBA? “Teaghan, the Dancing Queen”? To this day, I hear that lyric as Teaghan.
