Yes, it’s from Sidney’s Arcadia. Wikipedia says he invented it.
Maude? Barney Miller? Welcome Back Kotter?
Oh wait.
Not too hard to do. My name has been in the Top 30 of male names since…well, the last 2000 years or so.
I prefer the song that calls me big and bad rather than the reference to being an angel.
Yep. Pure Prairie League was all over itl.
Same here, though I like my song and never minded the impromptu serenades. Steve Perry also did a song many years later. Now that one is a suck fest.
None that I know of, and I have a common name (it was #1 for American boys’ names for a while, in fact).
How many times have I had The Beatles Michelle sung to me? Not enough times, that’s how many! Why aren’t I EVERYONE’S belle?
P.S. I always sing it thusly:
Meeeeshell ma’ bell
Fo fey fo fey fay fay fo fey fo
Fey fey fo fo
The song really isn’t about me. They spelled my name wrong.
We also have this. Though I imagine it is unlikely that either of us has the last name Reed.
here is one, that I found ages ago by searching for my name somewhere, think it was actually Limewire, lol.
And I LOVE THE SONG! Will have to look for it though, or upload it to Youtube myself to share it, as I remember searching for it, or the band, since, with no luck.
Mambo Number Five includes my name, among many others.
My mother named me after a Rolling Stones cover of a Bo Diddley song. There is also an older, more famous song by Nat King Cole that uses my name, which people used to sing at me. That irritated me - I was not named after a painting, dammit.
I abandoned that name about 20 years ago and I’ve been Maggie ever since. There are lots of Maggie songs.
I’m Qadgop the Mercotan
I’m Qadgop the Mercotan
I eat my neutronium

Yup. Apparently, the pipes, the pipes are calling me.
“Stacy’s mom has got it going on”
My kids would sing this to me all the time, even though I kept pointing out to them that they were basically calling their grandma “hot” when doing so. It always made us laugh.
You don’t tug on Superman’s cape.
You don’t spit into the wind.
You don’t pull the mask off the ol’ Lone Ranger
And you don’t mess around with 74westy.
“Sicks,
Sicks Sicks,
The Number of the Beast.”
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” has my first and last names in it.
And take a message to Biffy, message to Biffy,
He sings each night in some cafe…
Yes, a Van Halen song. I seem to be cryin’.
There’s a TV series named after me, but I’ve never watched it.
