America needs change and I think we should just do away with the Federal Government period. They can’t be trusted any longer, its bad enough we have to watch our counties, and our states. I know this would brought up by our founding fathers, and its very appreciated. But its just not working anymore, we need like Obama says CHANGE. So I think all the states should just go their separate ways. What happens when you give someone to much power and authority/ It goes straight to their head and into Americans wallets.

What, go back to the Articles of Confederation? Good God, that was a disaster back in the 18th century. In today’s ever more interconnected world, that would just Balkanize the United States, destroy the free-trade interstate economy, and eliminate any ability for any state to act coherently outside of its own borders. Who gets which Naval vessels? Who gets the nukes and the Air Force?
So…each of the 50 states should become a completely sovereign nation?
One of the places where government power and authority is at its most intrusive: International borders. Every time you cross an international border, government bureaucrats–many of them armed–get to ask you questions about where you’re coming from and where you’re going and why; and search you and your stuff; and take the opportunity to levy all sorts of taxes (tariffs and customs) on any goods you have.
I don’t think setting up 50 new sets of border guards would increase the freedom of average Americans.

BTW its not religion per se that drives them to this, it is a particular brand of religion. You don’t see this sort of shit coming from large Catholic communities or large Jewish communities or large Presbyterian or Lutheran communities. It is coming from a community of religious fanatics that have conflated religious beliefs with things like tax policy, anti-environmentalism and a wierd form of libertarianism.
But for the abortion/gay rights debate, most religious folks are four square with liberals and frankly a lot of us are pretty much on board with gay rights too and have a moderated view on abortion.
If you guys could just speak up, you silent majority you, and maybe outshout your crazy co-religionists, it would do the country a world of good.
