To the OP, I get what you are saying. You see, right now, we got people occupying Wall Street when they should be Occupying Pennsylvania Avenue. There’s thing thing called the Entitlement Generation, who feel that they have a right to everything. A large number of the people at OWS are part of this age group. If they paid attention in history and in Government classes, they’d know that the Constitution only guarantees them Life, Liberty, and the right to Pursue your happiness. The government is NOT going to just give you everything you feel you deserve.
Because it’s all Obama’s fault, of course! (Not my idea; I’m just interpreting.)
Oh, and “The Entitlement Generation”? Did anybody else see the AARP ad on TV in which the gray-haired folks indicated they voted & wanted hands off their entitlements! (I agree with them, in fact.)
Guys! …gasp… W-we’ve been the victim of a drive-by… gasp …political ranting of zero-coherence. oh god the pain … I can’t feel my legs… g-go on without me…
Hey, I got no problem with seniors getting benefits. They worked for their money, and in they end, when they decided to retire, the government they trusted burned them. You must understand. I’m speaking of kids born from 1991 and beyond, feeling that the world should reward them just for being alive.
Yeah, my son-in-law thinking that it might be nice for there to be some jobs open after he graduated from law school is expecting the world to give him a living.
As far as I can tell kids graduating today aren’t looking for a handout, they are looking for a chance to put their skills to use. It doesn’t seem a lot to ask for.
So, this is actually the first time in American history when one can truthfully say “Dagnabbit consarned younger generation thinks the world owes ‘em a livin’ HEY GET OFFA–” etc.?
YES! Take out a small-business loan! Drive yourself further into debt! I’m sorry, it’s just that I was taught “debt= Great Satan”, so forgive me if I don’t wish to owe money. I’m sure I could take out a loan and start working in computer repair tomorrow, if I wanted. I have the knowledge and skill to do it, but unless something happens to boost my confidence in my economy, forget that.
And what would boost your confidence in the economy? Tax cuts? Fewer regulations? Or a large increase in consumer spending and demand for your services? (Hint: one of these is not like the others)
If you’re serious, nothing will boost your confidence. Starting your own small business is a huge risk, no matter what… You just gotta jump, or roll over.
I’ve worked my ass off over a decade to get my business off the ground, and I didn’t take out one loan. I work hours around the clock, bend over backwards for my clients, pay my taxes and get raped by health insurance that barely does me any good. And all this too can be yours!
Sure beats the hell out of a corporate gig, though.
