So you know the war against New England is going to happen

We here in California can just call ourselves the New California Republic, copy-and-paste the two headed bear flag from the Fallout series and we’re all set!

So they once could be trusted?

Before they had to pander to get votes from women and negroes.

I didn’t know you lived in North Dakota!

And those non-land owners.

Back when men of property ran the country and every one else was part of the property.

When I saw this thread title yesterday, before I even read the OP, I giggled to myself with the knowledge that hilarity would ensue. Glad to see I was right

Say what you will about the OP, at least it’s timely.

Interesting take on public opinion in that article. It seems to be making the point that public disapproval against the government is growing as exemplified by the Occupy Wall Street movement and polls which indicate a majority of Americans think “the policies of Congressional Republicans favor the rich… object to tax cuts for corporations … prefer increasing income taxes on millionaires … (and) that the distribution of wealth in the country should be more equitable”. And the conclusion the writer draws from this dissatisfaction is that Obama’s chances of re-election could be in trouble.

Really? He read that list of things people are unhappy about and sees the making of a Herman Cain victory in there?

I don’t know about that. However, the OP would seem to favor Ron Paul. In the last GOP debate Ron Paul said we need to abolish the Department of Education, Energy, Commerce, and Health and Human Resources. It is not that great of a leap to go from Ron Paul’s position to MissesA’s position.

Re-elections often function as referendums on the public’s satisfaction with the current administration. The person actually running is less relevant - people will either vote for Obama or against him.

But these people have a fairly anti-conservative agenda. They’re not going to vote Republican as a protest against Obama anymore than somebody who thought Bush was too liberal would have voted for Kerry as a protest in 2004.

Maybe. Maybe they just won’t vote at all. Many people would rather not vote than vote for what they see as a lesser evil.

 Then why did the Jews vote for Buchanan in 2000?!
