When Inara and the lord were telling Mal that he had to kill wassisname, because letting him live would be a humiliation, I remember thinking ‘Oh, yeah, THAT’s going to make him do it.’
Then I remembered who was saying it. ‘Oh. Well, good point. It probably WILL make him let the guy live.’
I think my favorite part was the ballroom dancing.
Those fancy folks, with the beautiful dresses and immaculate suits, all gathered together on the gorgeous tile floor, under the levitating, rotating sculpted chandelier…
Wow, ** Mr. Visible **, those are some impressive powers of perception. I didn’t get that at all, but you’re right, they WERE square dancing. Very clever. Very, very clever.
See that, Fox? * That’s * a good show. I know it might be hard to recognize, when you’re so used to stuff like World’s Wildest Supermarket Security Videos, but take my word for it. Firefly’s nifty.
I was reminded of the dancing in a Henry VIII movie.
But it probably was square dancing since they had the cows.
I’m starting to miss phasers and warp drive.
^:)^
I also had a bit of a problem with the Mal/Inara dynamics in this show. I felt that it was a bit out of order…that this show would have been better if it had run earlier, helping set up the relationship between the two. Right now, I don’t know what Inara sees in Mal.
What a great character in Kaylee…can I have one for Christmas???
Ooh! ** moonchilde ** beat me to posting Fox’s addresses. I’ve e-mailed and am writing a letter shortly.
This is very exciting for me. I’ve never written to a TV network before.
Hope you all will do the same.
Love, Kn*ckers
P.S.: If you’re interested, ** moonchilde ** it might help your wedding preparations to know that Kaylee’s full name was given at the ball as Kaywinnit Lee Frye. Enjoy!
Well, this was supposed to be episode five, not episode eight or nine or wherever we are now. Fox shuffled the sequence of the shows they had in order to front-load the action-packed stuff, in an effort to hook casual viewers who may not be tuning in every week and following everything that’s going on. So in Whedon-World, this would have come earlier in the season. I bet they restore the order on the DVDs (if the show survives long enough to warrant such a release).
Not to hijack, but this deserves an answer. Among the evidence of episode shuffling in John Doe, are his relationship with the police and the mysterious appearance of Doe’s assistant, Karen(?) Kowalski around Doe’s home (which is later explained when Kowalski asks him for a job). I think Doe also revealed his secret to his acquaintances out of order.
