Firefly has the green-light

It shall be called “Serenity”

Yay!

<feet do happy dance of joy>

Then, maybe, it will be such a blockbuster that some major network wants it to be spun off into a TV series!

I dance the Dance of Joy! Hopa!

Best news I’ve heard all day!

Hallelujah!

Shiny!

You know I saw precious little of the precious few episodes and I can’t understand why it got canned why pap like Andromeda and Enterprise keeps coming. Why? Really, why? I thought it was brilliant, especially the episode where the bungled theft of a lot of money is mistaken for unbridled generosity, The Man they called Jane was it?

Hooray!

I’ll be in my bunk.

Jaynestown

Is this the shortest time frame for an underappreciated TV show to be turned into a major motion picture?

I wonder what other actors will be in it. Some near-famous actors portraying Alliance officers, former Independents or even Reavers…

Alliance

  • Clancy Brown would make a great Alliance commander. I would pick him due to his spot as the drill sergeant in Starship Troopers.

Yes, and I’m still waiting for “My Mother the Car, the Motion Picture.”

The full original cast! Gina had been iffy, what with having a career and all, but they got her. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/gofuton.cgi?action=newswire&id=6442

Now I can finally watch my DVDs without getting depressed. I saw they were still on the eye-level top shelf at Wally Mart.

Woohoo! Yipee!! {some joyous Mandarin}!!

I’ve got to wonder whether Joss pushed the button from “Out of Gas” after getting this response…

For those of us not wanting a Variety subscription, is there any info on the story? Probably not a synopsis at this point, but maybe a Joss-esque toss off comment? “Oh, it’ll be about growth, being a family, and the mystery of Wash’s three switches shall be revealed.”

And the news that Whedon is covering the writing and directing is an added bonus.

I…

I think i’m going to cry.

Take that, FOX!

I literally just gasped/ THis is wonderful, wonderful news. You know it had to be the reaction to the mass-buy-out of the DVDs. The exec’s obviously didn’t recognize this gem when they had it, but now that they can see another venue for some $$, they’re all over it.

I mean, I’m fine with that, just cynical.
Wooo! Firefly is still free!

It’s great to see Firefly coming back…though I worry about the motion picture format and how the show dynamics will fit into it.
What I would like to see is something new: a direct-to-DVD series, where a new 2-hour telemovie is released every six months. Maybe offer subscriptions so it can be directly mailed to those interested. Charge $25 or $30 a shot and I KNOW they would make money on it.

Yeah!

Now we need to just get that puppy into Theaters without some idiot suit ruining it.

Heh, waddaya talkin’ about?
Clancy Brown would make a good REAVER!
You remember him as the Kurgan in Highlander?

Oh hell yeah.

I have no idea what if anything the movie will do with the brilliant opening-credits song (“Take my love, take my land / Take me where I cannot stand”), but if there’s even a nod to it in the cinema, I think I’ll probably cry.
