I downloaded the latest Firefox browser. It gave me a message saying that it is not compatible with AVG. Is that a permanent problem? Do I have to get new Virus program immediately or will the problem be resolved. ?
Are you running AVG 8? I think the problem isn’t with the antivirus, but with a plug in that searches pages for phishing attempts and bad junk. AVG itself should work fine.
Running Firefox 3 and AVG 8 here with no problems.
The plug-in is called LinkScanner. Both Firefox 3 and AVG should work perfectly. The plug-in simply isn’t compatible so you’ll have to live without that safety feature.
Yeah, the AVG plugin is a pain. It was creating problems on my XP machine and Vista machine so I disabled it on both.
Remember, turn off the plugin by disabling it in Firefox Addons, NOT by using the AVG Control, otherwise AVG will keep flashing its icon to report there’s a problem.
I have the free 8.0 . The message came up after Firefox download, But it did not specify the link scanner. Does that mean I am OK.?
You should be fine. Let us know if any other messages come up. And you might as well run a virus scan while your at it!
