Firefox and ABCNews.com suddenly incompatible?

For the last several days I have been unable to load ABC News’ home page with Firefox 1.0 without it crashing. This is one of the first major sites I’ve found to consistantly do this. Does this happen for everyone else? Anyone know what they added that’s causing it?

I’m running Firefox 1.0 and I just followed your link and browsed around the site a little bit. It seems to be working fine on my end. What exactly is it doing?

(Note I just recently downloaded Firefox, so maybe there are some bugs that have been fixed in my version?)

Mine isn’t crashing. Perhaps it’s because I’m using the Flashblock extension, and their headlines are flash objects now (for some stupid reason)

-lv

After it loads I always get the ‘firefox.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows’ dialog box. I haven’t had any problems with Flash banners on other sites. Just tried it on a different PC, same thing.

works fine for me (Firefox 1.0 on Mac Os X)

No problem here - Firefox 1.0, no Flashblock, WinXP.

No prob here; I’m using FF 1.0 (“Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0”) on XP SP1, but I also have the AdBlock extension. My popup blocker is enabled. Perhaps some adware in a popup is crashing it?

Hmm, it crashed FireFox on my office computer, but that computer’s been a bit flakey lately. It doesn’t crash Firefox on my home PC but the words “Transferring data from abcnews.go.com…” won’t disappear from the status bar. Strange.

I have Firefox 1.0, with no extensions installed. The website crashed mine. All my tabs went down the tubes. You are not alone.

I too have the AdBlock extension running. No popup stopper (other than FF’s built in one). Both PCs are work PCs, older Compaq Deskpros w/Windows 2000.

All the other news sites still work, CBS, Fox, MSNBC, CNN.

I have Firefox 1.0 and haven’t added anything to it. My machine is a Dell Dimension 4100 w/Windows 2K. The link worked okay just now.

Firefox 1.0, no problems with that link.

Try uninstalling/re-installing Firefox.

No problems for Firefox 1 on Win2000, but I am getting a “Firefox prevented this site from opening a popup window” message.

How well does Firefox work with foxnews.com?

Maybe it was programmed by Republicans!

I tried the link last night on a WindowsXP SP2 box with Firefox 1.0 and received the error message and crash you described.

Today, at work, on a Windows 2000 box with Firefox 1.0, no crash.
