In Firefox, some URL’s have a neat little picture to the left of the…well…URL.
Sometimes, in both the pull down bookmarks menu, and with the bookmarks tookbar, these little icons are next to the bookmark name, but other times, they aren’t. How do I make it so that every webpage that has it’s own little icon will have tht icon show up in the bookmark list?
(My current example is www.mypimp.com (not what it sounds like, it’s an online personal scheduling/calender/contact list thingy))
It is on the website end, not the browser end. It shows up if the website in question have a ‘favicon.ico’ file under the root URL. (Point your browser to http://www.mypimp.com/favicon.ico to see what I mean.) If ‘favicon.ico’ is found, the browser uses it instead of the generic bookmark icon.
But if it does have this favicon.ico (whihc, BTW, it does), why isn’t it showing up in the bookmarks? It shows up in the URL field, but not in the bookmark listing. Yet several other websites (google, livejournal, ebay) have both the little icon next to the URL and bookmark listing.
Weird, mine won’t do that.
The favicons thing came up a couple of months ago somewhere else, possibly Unaboard, see if I can recall exactly where, but there is a file in the Firefox/Mozilla collection, chrome, possibly, that gives you a measure of control over the favicons, as long as they are being generated by the bookmarked site.
Did you click on the Ananova site, then immediately click on Al-Jazeera or vice-versa? I did something like that and I had to delete and re-bookmark deviantART to get rid of the GameFAQs icon.
