Firefox/Foxit reader problem - only get blank screen

I’ve recently obtained a “new” computer (hand-me-down from my brother, but new HD and OS) and I’m trying to load up all the apps and programs that I want. This computer has Windows 7 Home Premium.

I’m using Firefox 3.6.10 and I’ve downloaded Foxit Reader 4.2.0.0928. On my XP laptop, when I open a pdf file in Firefox, it opens in a new tab using a Foxit plugin. Right now all I get is a blank page, and it doesn’t appear to be a Foxit page.

I’ve looked in Firefox>Tools>Add-ons>Plugins and I have a Foxit Reader Plugin For Mozilla 1.0.1.1117 and the option to disable it, but I can’t do anything else with it. I’ve also looked in Firefox>Tools>Options>Applications and PDF doesn’t even appear on the Content Type list.

I’ve also tried going to the Foxit Tools>Check for Updates and tried to update/install the Firefox plugin, but nothing happens, not even with a re-start of Firefox or Foxit.

I don’t know what else to look at or look for in order to get this to work! Most of my school assignments are pdfs and I’d like to be able to view them in my browser rather than opening additional windows or downloading files to my hard drive all the time.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the plug in to work? Thanks!

Try opening Foxit directly …then find Preferences—Internet-- tick "display internet in Browser—OK
It helped me, had the same problem.

I don’t know FoxIt, but another option is to uninstall it (first Disable, then Uninstall), then download the plugin called “PDF Download” which also gives you the option to view PDFs in your browser.

This worked! Thank you! I thought I had looked at every possible menu option, but I guess I missed this one! As I said, I’m a student - my life just got a lot easier!
