Firefox question - browser disk cache

I find in searching that to change the location of Firefox’s disk cache, I need to go to about:config and change the value for the “browser.cache.disk.parent directory” line.

So, what does it mean when I go to about:config and don’t have a line for that?

Firefox 3.0.10, Windows XP MCE 2005 with SP3.
