From my time as a slave to the fast food machine, I remember that they would often schedule the new employees only a few hours at first so they could see if they were going to be dependable, a good worker, etc. There was nothing worse then scheduling the new guy/gal for 30 hours the first week and then the next day they get a better offer or just plain decide they don't feel like working after all. Some people seemed to assume that since this was 'only McDonalds' it didn't really matter if you showed up for work or not.
I would guess as you prove your worth, you’ll get all the hours you could dream of.

If I could think of something witty to say, it would be listed here.
Red Dye #5 laden bottled crap! Doesn’t even come close. There’s no lime flavor to it! Utterly useless as a substitute, even when poured over plentiful amounts of crushed ice.
I like the food (mmmm jalapeno double cheeseburger) and the drinks at Sonic, but I have often found the service lacking, which is the main reason why I don’t go there more. It’s not atypical for me to wait 12-15 minutes for a dang burger and a drink. I’ll tip the servers, but only when the food gets to me fast.
After reading all these posts from other dopers, I don’t understand how Sonic could be placing their advertisements soooo stupidly.
Oh, another thing I hate about Sonic is the drive-thru.
Instead of having a window the way modern, civilized fast food joints have had for centuries, they have some poor little 15 year old girl stumble 7 feet out the door to your car on rollerskates and then look all doe-eyed and expect a tip.
If I wanted to tip you for fast food I would have parked!
I wish! I live in Columbus, and they advertise all the time here too. The nearest one that I know of is an hour southeast in Athens. There has been at least one other thread here about how they advertise in places where they have no stores.
