First mainstream movie to show a penis

May I direct you to Eadweard Muybridge’s Ascending an Incline (1887)? Features full frontal male nudity—and quite a looker, too.

“GP” or “PG” rated male frontal nudity before Never Cry Wolf (1983):

Celebration at Big Sur (20th Century-Fox, 1971)
Mixed Company (United Artists, 1974)
Danton (France, 1982). Released in U.S. in 1983.

Thanks everyone! I think I’ll go with Medium Cool and / or I Am Curious (Yellow). (The latter being one of the movies that Ebert reviews in his book I Hated, Hated, HATED this movie - a good book to have in the bathroom).

Tee hee. (Too subtle?)

I bow to your greater movie knowledge, Walloon. I had never even heard of any of those movies.

Hi, Dooku. “Fucko?”

Dongs were always more prevalent and accepted in mainstream movies in other countries, but, while this one’s the best, there’s some things it’s just beginning to explore (finally) so if you mean THIS

so if you mean THIS country, it was just recently. But in a country like, say, France the first was probably decades ago.

If you consider Medium Cool (1969) to be “recently” and not “decades ago.”

Can you name any such French movies?
