Watched about 30 minutes of the hour and regretted 29.5 minutes of it. It was trying to be Moonlighting 2006…didn’t believe in the two main characters, or their “love chemistry”, for a mega second and they started to annoy me after about, well…30 minutes. I will be surprised if this show lasts the season.
I actually liked that it was kind of terrible. I think it could work if they decide to go either harder drama about professional relationships or went solidly into dramedy territory. This half and half thing doesn’t work.
I was very disappointed in this show, too. Won’t bother watching another episode. What a waste of good actors.
I saw an article that described the concept as “Mad About You meets 24.” Yup, that sounds about right. My prediction is that it’s gonna be “Mad About You meets 24 and gets canceled in four episodes.”
Yup, I agree with that. If the only things on TV were “The War at Home” and “Standoff” and “The Hairball Channel,” I’d go with the last option. But I’d probably cancel my cable TV subscription, since I can get free hairball viewing any time, live and in person, in my own home. In full stereo, with smell-o-vision.
I think it’s part of the extended “Nasty Pack”, which you have to purchase separately. Includes the Hairball Channel, Mucus TV, Ooze News, and Lifetime.
Oddly enough, I caught the first three minutes of this show Sunday, and this morning I cleaned up a hairball that my cat created in the wee hours of the morning.
Wile E was right - the hairball had a better plot and was less offensive.
Maybe you need to look into getting Pay Per Poo, where you can look at canine excrement from all over the world. It’s the sister channel of Must-Pee Teevee.
I was really grateful that you helped the thread toward an alternate path. It was a relief to be able to discuss something other than the thread’s original subject matter. “Icky stuff emitted by animals” is, IMHO, a lot more fun to talk about than “Standoff.”
As the OP, I don’t find a whole lot of difference between the icky stuff emitted by animals and the show “Standoff”, so feel free to continue to, uh, dump.
