Don Kessinger in 1979 for the White Sox?

That was quick!

AFAIK.

 1. Although popular opinion says four, only two members of the Baseball Hall of Fame ever played for the Harlem Globetrotters. Who are they?

 2. Which Hall of Famer, inducted in his third year of eligibility, was originally a shortstop in the minors but made so many errors he was converted to OF?

I was going to say Frank Robinson, but I believe he played/managed earlier, in the mid-70s. For Cleveland, if I had to guess.

'75 & '76 Indians. Joe Torre was '77 Mets.

Thought of another one:

 1. Which single-season St. Louis Cardinal’s full name means “welcome, maker of statuettes”? Hint: his playing name meant “well maker of statuettes”.

Still unanswered:

 1. What accomplishment would you associate with Ernie Whitt, George Bell, Lloyd Moseby, Rance Mulliniks, Fred McGriff, and the immortal Rob Ducey?

You have 24 hours before my membership runs out (barring an E-mail response to my question about the board blah blah blah) and I tell you.

I’m actually surprised nobody’s gotten this yet.
John Henry had a share of the Yankees while he owned the Marlins.
Correct. Due to legal issues, Henry was not allowed the sell his shares immediately, so retained them despite the rule.

Prior to Henry, it was Joan Whitney Payson, a long-time Giants fan, who retained one share of the Giants (with the permission of the commissioner) when she took over as majority owner of the New York Mets.

 1. Who managed in two all-star games, but never managed in the postseason?

Postseason series MVPs?

 1. Who was the last team owner to manage his team for an elongated period of time (in other words, Ted Turner’s attempt is out)?

Postseason series MVPs?
Good guess, but no.

Ernie Whitt, George Bell, Rance Mulliniks, Lloyd Moseby, Fred McGriff and Rob Ducey combined to hit ten home runs in one game in 1987 (Whitt hit 3, Bell and Mulliniks 2.) It is the only time in major league history a team has hit ten homers in a game.

Connie Mack?

Never mind. Let me think some more. I’d say Connie Mack offhand, though.
27. Bob Gibson (guard) and Ferguson Jenkins (forward). The other two that are often mentioned are Lou Brock (urban legend) and Satchel Paige (mascot; took part in routines but didn’t play in games).

What team holds the record for runs in a game? How many did they score? How many did they score in their next game, coincidentally against the same team?
I am going to guess the Rangers, last year, when they plated 27 against the Orioles. I don’t know how many runs they scored the next game; 0?

:smack:

I forgot to put in an essential clause: without any previous baseball experience.

I wasn’t thinking of Mack.

Gene Mauch?

 1. What was Vernon “Lefty” Gomez’ other nickname?
 2. Name two players with the same name (since 1960) to have hit 30 or more home runs in a season.

31. Judge Emil Fuchs, owner/manager of the Boston Braves around the 1920s.
That’s the answer I was thinking of.

As for the other: Mauch did manage in the post-season (just never in the World Series). 32 is “Goofy”.
