First snow of the winter!

Just little flakes, probably melt as soon as they hit the ground, but, SNOW!

Awesome!! I wish we would get some.

Huh. We got you beat here in Toronto. We had flakes along Lake Ontario about two weeks ago. Nothing that accumulated, but it was absurdly early.

You say that like it’s a *good *thing.

It is, in moderation. Beautiful moonlit nights, fresh white blanket of snow, boots crunching as people walk along.

It’s when we still have it May that I get a bit twitchy.

We got little flakes here in Northern Ohio about a week ago. Hope it was an outlier.

2" two weeks ago here. Melted the same day. But yeah, winter is coming.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but . . . every year I dread winter more and more. It’d be fine if I could just stay indoors and look out the window. But winter driving and especially walking on ice; at my age, a fall could have complications. Spring can’t come soon enough!

You can have all of the snow we get this winter . We had snow banks tha6 ft. high here . And the snow didn’t melt until June at the snow farm .

A bit of snow in the Palisades (Lake Nipigon) on Sunday.

Only mud by Monday.

Same here…a few flakes on the 17th, and some actual sleet/snow on the 18th.

However, I like a light dusting of snow. Not enough to need to plow/shovel, but enough to lightly cover everything.

Which reminds me, I’d better call the snow removal service to get them lined up again…November is coming.

Yes. I have a snow removal service myself. They are called “the neighborhood kids” who seem to be willing to shovel my sidewalk for a few dollars and a pizza.
Or so they say…

That’s another reason I love snow…I love using a snow blower. I think it’s a ton of fun.
When it snows…I blow.

You realize fall just started right? It won’t be winter for two more months.

“Winter” weather in Ohio usually begins in early November and lasts until mid to late March. I’ve seen snow as late as June.

Winter is a season, not an astronomical event.

Right… it’s a season that starts in late December.

Anyway around these parts there won’t be snow now, then, or ever.

I love winter. LOVE IT. I love cold weather and I love snow. I realize, though, that part of the freedom to love it comes from the fact that I’ve structured my life so I live very close to work and don’t have to deal with a commute. I don’t blame coworkers who have commutes of an hour or more (in good weather) for hating winter.

We’ve got about 10" so far at our house. Pretty typical. Seen lots more and little less in the past.

Works out pretty well to get early snow to pack into the gravel driveway. Little at a time before I start plowing. If I get a big snow early, and have to plow it can be a bit of a mess.
