There are certain words I like to say - but not because of their meaning or anything. I like to say them just because I like the way they sound. Their meanings are irrelevant to me. I just like the feel of them in my mouth and the sound of them as they leave my mouth and hang in the air.
They are, in alphabetical, but not necessarily preferential, order:
[ul][li]attaché[/li][li]caterwaul[/li][li]dossier[/li][li]isobar[/li]scamp[/ul]Does anyone else have any favorite words they like to say?
Unacceptable - My favorite way to show disapproval. Nice - (Long N, stress the ICE part) My favorite way to show approval. Waaah - Whenever someone complains about something.
Ok so they’re not special foreign words, I just like saying them. They’re only said by themselves by the way, I don’t try to throw them into sentences all the time.
Examples of usage:
Other person: Did you hear that Bush won the election?
Me: Unacceptable.
Other person: Check out that hot girl over there!
Me: Nice!
Other person: Today, at lunch, I had to wait on line for 30 minutes because the people at Burger King were so slow.
Me: Waaah.
When cussing, I like to say “piece of shit” instead of shit.
I blame…er…thank…Valerieblaise for introducing the word “feeble” into my vocabulary. It’s such a GREAT word, but I sort of feel as if I’ve stolen her signature somehow.
“Alarming” is another good one. Ex:
Maggie’s roommate: “Sheldon got back together with Kiki last night”
Me: “How alarming.”
