Well, to be fair, with Obama we’re talking about his dad; with McCain, we’d be talking about his great (x whatever) grandpa. That would be a reasonable comparison if they accused Obama of having “Baal-worshipping roots” or somesuch.
But yeah, this “Obama is a Muslim” bull is tiresome. Even moreso when it makes everyone who’s pro-Obama say, “No he isn’t,” when what we should be saying is, “so what if he is?”
Seriously, people. When Kennedy was present, AFAIK he didn’t make everyone attend Mass.

Obama’s father had abandoned Islam before Barack was born. His grandfather had converted to Islam, but his father became an atheist as an adult. I don’t think that’s enough to qualify Obama as having Muslim roots. It’s not an ethnicity. My mother is Southern Baptist. That doesn’t mean my kids (who are being raised Catholic) have Baptist roots.
