Things the Opposition are saying

Due to one of my hobbies, I found myself reading a related message board. The posters there tend to be… Let’s just say ‘extreme Right Wing’. Here are a few things I’ve read:

There was another post last night, after the election was called, that is gone this morning. It was really vile.

This isn’t really a Pitting. It’s just an observation that there are some seriously scary people in this country. But I reckoned it would wind up here anyway.

I’ve seen both elsewhere, probably where you got the quote from, and there’s one of the latter in the Pit right now.

I don’t get it. Why is he “illegitimate”? The birth certificate thing?

he’s not legitimately elected either, with the ACORN guys putting in all those fake votes, don’tcha know?

Can you PM me that message board? I need to see this.

From a FOX News board posted from someone in my homestate!! ack…

WTF?

I fear it is only the beginning. Crooks & Liars has this post attributed to a Fox News forum.

Why do they hate America?

In contrast, here’s an excellent article on National Review:

I’ll take “revisionist history” for 100 Alex

Until you get to the second page, when all of a sudden it goes back to “The mainstream media protected Obama! We don’t even know who he is!”

Some of the Freepers already have been saying, for months, that Obama is the Antichrist, and clearly not intending it as hyperbole, either. Hard to top that.

another gem from the Fox board, this was a comment on the “What should Obama do in his first 30 days”

Remember the phrase “the loyal opposition?” They don’t.

Maybe that will be the new Godwinism. Instead of Nazi being the trigger world, from now on it will be AntiChrist?

There’s a little of that, but the article as a whole is conciliatory and patriotic, in the best sense of that word.

Congrats to John Derbyshire at the National Review, who manages to compare Obama’s policies to Hitler and Stalin in less than 3 dozen words.

Well, he took a poke at Nancy Reagan so that’ll be close enough for some.

That reminds me of somebody who used to post here. I don’t remember his name (though I’m sure somebody else will), but everything (everything) could be blamed on Ted Koppel. Anybody remember him? I hope it’s the same guy. I’d hate to think that two separate people have such a hard-on for Mr. Koppel.

I believe you’re thinking of GuyNBlueJeans (or as another poster memorably dubbed him, GuyNBrownShirt).

And to the other posters… you can relax, guys. You won. You don’t have to worry about being smeared now. Winners can afford to be gracious. Rise above it.

God, this is the one that always makes me stabby: “We just don’t know anything about Barack Obama.”

Yeah, I mean, all we really have to go by are his TV commercials, a dozen or so debates, hundreds of speeches, hundreds of interviews, thousands of articles, a state Senate voting record, two books, a painfully comprehensive web site, a 30-minute primetime special, and the two-week “Who is Barack Obama?” camp we were all sent to over the summer.
