Flash Gordon 09/28/07--didn't completely suck.

It just mostly sucked. Perhaps future episodes will just sort of suck.

Flash Gordon Meets the Space Vampires…er, I mean, Night Hunters.

Zarkov actually shows some courage in this episode. He still whines too much, but at least he stays the course.

I had thought that the character of Baylin would replace Barin. I am happy to see that I was wrong. And Barin is played by the actor who played the Rade twins on Andromeda. Not the best actor in the world, but for some reason, I like the guy.

In this version, Aura and Barin are betrothed on Ming’s orders. To my utter astonishment, I like this idea. Alex Raymond’s version was rather sappy and melodramatic. Their marriage makes far more sense as a York+Lancaster=Tudor dynastic union, than it ever did as a love match.

I agree it was better than previous episodes, if only because it dealt primarily with, you know, Mongonian stuff on Mongo rather than mostly being about what it’s like to be a marathon runner in Vacouver. If it keeps going in this direction, it might turn out OK. Unforunately, I think the total suckitude of the early eps may have driven all potential fans gibbering into the night, or at least, to other channels. Hell, some of them may have been so disappointed that they turned off their TV sets and talked with their families.
