So what’s the verdict? I can’t believe I watched the whole thing but I bet I’m not only one. Although, I might be the only one to admit it and this thread will die a quick death.
The first handful of episodes were just so bad. The acme of awfulness had to be the episode when they introduced the Bird Men, or whatever they’re called.
Some of the later episodes weren’t quite so awful; I kept watching for some reason. I never could make up my mind if they were trying to be bad on purpose in a campy sort of way, or if it was just bad. Was I supposed to be laughing with them, or laughing at them? I mostly laughed at them.
The season ended with “to be continued.” Think it’ll actually get renewed? Kinda pisses me off considering some of the shows that actually had promise they’ve canceled over the last year or so.
I was without a TV for a couple of months, so I missed most of the season. I am glad to hear that it got bett…less bad. Maybe I will catch it in reruns.
I personally found the last third of the season to be a marked improvement from the first two thirds. If they can maintain the tone they’ve decided they want to take, season 2 (when and if it happens) ought to be good watching.
It was better the last few episodes. More time spent in Mongo, not so much of it in Vancou—Maryland. My DVR screwed up and didn’t catch the last episode and Sci-Fi doesn’t have any more reruns scheduled. But I hope they bring it back. I do agree Zharkov needs to be recast. Every time I see him, I just want to say, “Hello — Newman.” (I know it’s not Wayne Knight, but there’s definitely a grating resemblance there.)
I warmed up to it. I think Flash Gordon is inherently campy. I really wanted Ming to be more over-the-top, so I’m hoping that he comes back in crazy form. I don’t want the series to end at all. At least it shouldn’t end without a genuine resolution. The way they ended it though, it seems like a renewal is not guaranteed.
I agree with the previous, the first few episodes were garbage, but they seem to have found their camp stride and I’ve been enjoying the final few episodes.

I maintain that unless they use the Queen music, it can’t get good. But maybe it got better. I gave up at about the halfway mark. If it gets renewed, I may watch it again.
If it gets renewed, however, while Dresden Files got the pink slip, I might have to boycott Sci Fi on principle. Choices, choices.
