Flash: new TV show (boxed spoilers)

In much the same way the universe needs Batman more than it needs a happy and well adjusted Bruce Wayne.

I didn’t notice there were 2 suits?

Okay, several witnesses heard the Reverse Flash confess to killing Ma Allen, including the police. Why did no one mention getting Pa Allen out o prison?

…now there’s a good point. It’s probably even on there StarLabs video.

I had to laugh, a couple episodes ago, when Oliver said there were very few people who know his secret identity. Practically everybody he knows is in on the secret. I did a quick scan through the plots so far, and it looks like the only main, recurring character with a name and lines and everything who isn’t in on it is his sister, and Malcolm may told her and she’s just playing coy.

I also like that Walls figured out who he was in about three seconds. “Hm, let’s see… Digg, Felicity & Oliver show up in CC. Then Dig, Felicity & the Arrow show up.” How the hell hard is that supposed to be to figure out?

I was wondering… Roy G. Bivolo. Coincidence or canon?

I would have loved for thea to say - “Damnit Ollie - can’t you just use the door like normal people?”

According to **cymk **in post 251. I haven’t had a chance to rewatch it yet. There is the suit Reverse Flash wears, and the slightly different suit Wells has and/or made.

Well, didn’t he say “she had to die” or something? That’s not a clear confession, although it does show that something odd involving red & yellow blurs occurred, and it’s known now that Flash exists, so I could see them reopening Pa Allen’s case. It’s not just the imagination of a small boy anymore.

Doesn’t Cisco call that guy “Rainbow Raider” at one point, which your wiki link specifically mentions right at the top so… canon-ish, or at least what has become typical for this show; pick a Flash villain from the comics and gritty-reboot him.

I’m waiting for The Top to show up as an S&M freak.

Just heard this news today. Very cool!

Caitlin wanted to call him “Rainbow Raider”. Cisco, as Official Code Namer, dubbed him “Prism”.

Barry’s dad is Professor Zoom!

or rather the actor voiced Professor Zoom in an episode of Batman The Brave & The Bold I watched on Netflix a couple nights ago. (yes, i know he played barry himself in the 1st Flash series)

As for two yellow costumes… Kid Flash’s costume is primarily yellow (at least the upper body portion). http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120225070308/marvel_dc/images/9/98/Kid_Flash_Wally_West_004.jpg

I didn’t think they could top the mid-season cliffhanger with Reverse Flash or even the Arrow/Flash crossover, but damn if Captain Cold doesn’t make for a great villain. You could tell that Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell were really enjoying their roles as Captain Cold and Heat Wave, respectively.

I know it wouldn’t make for great drama, but I couldn’t get past the fact that Barry should have been able to use his speed to easily disable/disarm these villains before they could even think about pulling a trigger.

And couldn’t the police have shot the Rogues while their backs were turned? They were firing at Barry, after all, so it would have been to protect a citizen.

When Iris’ boyfriend pulled the Flash out of harm’s way, I was reminded of a famous scene in an early Spider Man in which an anonymous cop pulled an unconscious Spidey out of the path of a charging Rhino.

Yeah, that really bugged me. He spent all that time- to him, what could have felt like hours- trying to get them to cross the streams… when all he had to do was casually walk up to them and disarm them. At the very least he could have just stood a long distance away and *thrown *stuff at them.

He’s really not a very good speedster, is he? The only time he’s done serious Flash-level maneuvering was when he rabbit-punched Arrow during the crossover episodes.

Also, it’s like the Central City PD doesn’t even know what a sniper rifle is. Heck, they hardly even know how to use their own pistols.

All that said, though, I’m really enjoying the show.

A little too much relationship stuff, but otherwise okay. I liked seeing Dr. Wells getting ready to jump out of his wheelchair and rescue Barry from the drone. Hm.

That’s the problem with trying to use unpowered humans as bad guys, unless you go full Iron Man style super suit the cops should be easily be able to take them down. There was no reason why that street shouldn’t have been surrounded by snipers.

Of all the things in the show, the fact that police wouldn’t just shoot the two villains, or that they presented any threat to the Flash are the most unbelievable. Super speed I can accept. Super stupidity is the worst.

I love this show, and it’s family viewing for us and our kids. It’s probably more violent than I should be watching with a five year old, but I like that Barry is put into some situations where he just can’t do everything that needs to get done and needs to make some moral choices.

This week’s episode was a dud for me, though. Captain Cold and Heat Wave were great villains, but so much of the writing was just dumb in this episode:

  1. What kind of explosive was it that Joe saved Caitlin from? It looked like it had the firepower of a Snap-Pop from three 4th of Julys ago!

  2. As has been mentioned, why didn’t the cops just shoot the villains in the back when The Flash distracted them?

  3. Wells was tapping his foot in the wheelchair while talking to Joe at the police station. Are we supposed to believe that he’s that sloppy about hiding that he’s not paralyzed?

Hopefully next week is better.
