I don’t think Cisco has even named one metahuman this season. Poor Cisco didn’t even get to name himself.
With the introduction (finally!) of Wells-2, I feel the writers have hit their stride for this season. They tried to fill in his role with Martin Stein, but the team dynamic wasn’t quite the same. Now we’ve got a complete cast, even though we’ve got dry, sardonic Wells-2 instead of affably evil Wells-1/Eobard Thawne. Loved Barry’s blind date, loved seeing Linda Park again. Even the obligatory Legends of Tomorrow tie-in felt natural and not forced.
Even Wells-2 seems to have that same soft spot for Barry that Wells-1 either had or faked. Does it make sense for the writers to gradually fold the Wells-2 character into the good-guy mix? Or is Wells-2 better left as a morally ambiguous character?
I know a lot of people like flawed heroes, but it kind of rankled the way Jay Garrick was getting repeatedly needled for not being a good enough speedster or whatever. Really hoping Garrick eventually gets a chance to save the day for one episode and then slam-dunk it onto Wells-2’s smug face
I have to give Tom Cavanaugh a lot of credit. I always saw him as the self-effacing nice guy in his other material like Ed. He’s been that guy on Flash, too, but he also has a few different flavors of convincing a-hole in his repertoire as well. Glad The Flash wrote Cavanaugh back into the series.
So that was Wells-2’s daughter kept in the cell by Zoom, right? That ought to give him some leverage over Harry… On the other hand, he genuinely stopped King Shark from killing Barry, and Zoom didn’t seem to know where he was, so I guess he’s not in Zoom’s control (yet?).
So now we know why Barry saw what’s her face as Killer Frost last season. That must be her Earth 2 version.
Also, apparently Cisco’s Coffee date is apparently Hawk-Girl on the spin off. I didn’t realize she was more than just a way to show Cisco gaining confidence.
Okay, that autobiography Wells 2 was reading…when was it written? Before the collider exploded (I guess)? Wasn’t Eobard Thawne worried he’d make a mistake and get caught? Maybe that supercomputer told him what to say, but it’s still a risk. Although IIRC, there was an athlete years ago who said he’d been “misquoted” in his autobiography. (Google says I’m thinking of Charles Barkley.)
No, I’m saying that Barry’s Earth-2 counterpart, who is also a speedster, became evil (or was always evil) and is now known as Zoom. That’s why he’s so insistent on killing doppelgangers.
Look at Zoom from the stinger scene - he’s wearing Barry’s circle-and-lightening bolt symbols on his chest and the side of his head. It’s hard to see because of the dark and because the suit has been blackened out, but they’re there. Why would he be wearing a dark Barry Allen Flash suit if he wasn’t Barry Allen?
When Thawne sucked the life out of Wells, he took on not just Wells’s face but also his memories as well as personality. So, regardless of when it was written, you could say the real Wells wrote it.
…according to Ebert’s Law of Economy of Characters it is most probable that Zoom is someone we already know. I speculated in the last thread that Zoom is either Earth II Barry or Earth I Eddie (who somehow survived). But I think Barry’s the best bet.
Jay said more than once about how they have to question why Wells who previously didn’t care that much about Zoom is now so driven to take him down, and I’m guessing his daughter being prisoner is the reason. Either to actually defeat him, or she’s a hostage so that Wells will help destroy Barry. Wells is still ambiguous enough at the moment it could go either way.
Really? First I remember was on Gilmore Girls when an old boyfriend of Rory’s was asked to send a manuscript to her current boyfriend. “Do I just address it to ‘That blond dick at Yale?’” That’s about a decade ago. But yeah, you don’t hear if often.
