Maybe they were those fake ice cubes (sipping stones) - you chill them and put them in drinks but they don’t dilute or otherwise affect the taste of your beverage.
Well… THAT was a lot of stuff happening. Boring love quadrangle, and the umpteenth variation of “just run and tie that guy up with your super powers you moron”, but pretty darn entertaining nonetheless. LOTS of revelations and so forth, which will presumably all be cancelled now that Barry has a chance to do it over again?
Will he learn to control his ability to travel through time?
I know! I was thinking “holy cow, they had a bunch of HUGE developments here!” Then they went and hit the reset button. Which is still pretty cool, since it means Barry time-traveled. And I’m glad Cisco may not get killed now.
A little tip of the hat to Quantum Leap, I thought, when Barry said, “Oh, boy!”
I really only knew the affable Tom Cavanagh from Ed and Scrubs. I had no idea he could be so malevolent. Quite the worthy Professor Zoom.
I should’ve guessed why that woman who couldn’t hail a cab had such a memorable outfit on, so that when we saw her, we’d know he’d gone back in time.
^Yeah, when we first saw her I thought “This must be significant, but why?” We found out soon enough.
When the police captain got it, I said “figures.” But then the death toll kept climbing, Wells reveals himself and Iris declares her true wuv I started thinking there must be a rollback here somewhere.
How’s Barry going to fix everything without revealing himself, to himself? Or does it not work that way?
I got the impression that he somehow swapped into his own (past) body. Doesn’t make sense, really, but in the past and the present he stopped right there at the corner, and there were never two of him there.
Time travel makes my head hurt. But, that works. Total Groundhog Day.
Nice big reveal with Reverse Flash and a very good scene between him and Cisco. I have a hard time seeing Cisco being gone for good so I would imagine that Flash discovers his time bending powers and will use it to save him. This will also give him motivation to go save his mom.
It’s already happened—everything that’s happened this episode has been undone. All those dramatic moments—police chief nearly biting it, big Prof. Zoom reveal, not just to Cisco, but to Caitlin, as well, Iris’ accepting and declaring her love to Barry, Iris learning that Barry is the Flash, Cisco’s death, they all have at this point never happened, and they won’t happen now. Honestly, I think this may be the worst reset button in recent history—we got essentially at least half a season, if not a season’s worth of plot and character development in a single episode, just to have it all taken away (in a flash. Ha, I slay me!).
Still, well, time travel. That’s cool, I suppose, except it’s way to powerful, giving a character that already needs to be nerfed by all manner of plot contrievances (or just plain old stupidity) practical omnipotence. So, either they’ll have to find some reason why Barry can’t use it again, or in addition to the weekly lamentations why the Flash didn’t just grab the gun, tie up the villain, hell, build an entire prison around him in the time it takes him to blink, we’ll be complaining that he didn’t do all that already last week.
So basically, everything cool about the episode has been undone, leaving just the audience in the know, which will make any future will-they-won’t-they between Iris and Barry all the more unbearable (hang on, at least Barry knows of Iris feelings now, right? Though I’m not sure it’s gonna make a difference…), and the cool stuff that’s left they’ll either have to take away, too, or else basically ruin any semblance of genuine drama the show has left.
Barry is in the past and doesn’t know Cisco is dead and Wells is evil so how is he gonna undo that?
The events at the bowling alley led to Iris having a revelation about Barry. If those events don’t happen, no revelation and Iris stays with Eddie.
Yeah, I was a little surprised that they didn’t give him sort of external, unreliable trigger- like maybe he gets hit by lightning right as he’s doing his beach vortex thing, or something. But according to this episode, all he needs to do is run really, really fast… which he’s been trying to do, anyway. According to this episode, time travel’s going to be something he’ll be able to do any time he needs a reset switch.
Although it does kind of look like, from the previews, that there’s consequences for screwing up time… but I’m not really sure how things could get worse than they were before the reset.
Without realizing it, maybe?
They need to somehow prevent the reporter guy from putting suspicion about Wells into people’s heads. Barry doesn’t know the danger, so it would have to be something coincidental.
I guess they are basically going to undo everything, including Well’s revelation then.
Even if they change all the other things, and they probably will, Barry now knows Iris loves him.
Unrequited love. Le sigh.
Still, I always thought it was a teensy bit creepy to be in love with your adopted sister. Kids raised as siblings generally don’t develop those kinds of feelings.
Really liked this episode. The scene between Cisco and Wells was powerful. Only gripe is the ending undercut everything that happened a little but not enough for me to have not like what I watched.
