Flash: new TV show (boxed spoilers)

There was a flash of Caitlin looking all superpowered while Barry was going super fast to trigger the singularity.

Ah, thanks. My DVR was very pixelated for that sequence for some reason so I couldn’t really see anything.

This page has the shot you missed (scroll down):

I missed it too, and I don’t think I would have realized that was Caitlin.

Huh, it sure seemed a lot more obvious watching it live but i guess that really doesn’t look much like her.

I, too, suffered a pixelation problem during Flash’s run and so missed Killer Frost. I caught her upon re-watching the episode, now that I knew what to look for.

One other thing I caught after re-watching: Future Barry had on a slightly different uniform. It was brighter red and the chest logo had a white background. In other words, it matched the picture from the future newspaper (as well as being closer to the comic book version).

I’m not into comics enough to know who Killer Frost was (until I read about her on the net). The quickness of the scene didn’t help.

But it makes sense - if Cisco got superpowers, it makes sense that Caitlin did to. And with a last name of Snow odds are the superpower will be cold based

Eddie should have got an emergency vasectomy rather than killing himself…
(though I do wonder who he has/had a kid with. The dancer?)

Brian

That’s what I thought too. I figured that the wormhole was a result of the paradox. Either Barry can’t stop it and it sucks in the whole world and spits out a reset world. Or Barry CAN stop it and the paradox is stabilized in some way, allowing the world to continue as it is despite the Reverse Flash never technically having existing.

One note, while I did correctly guess Eddie would kill himself to stop Eobarde, Eddie’s body did get sucked up into the wormhole. As any comics/sci-fi fan knows, those things are magical, so we’ve seen neither the last of Eddie Thawne nor Eobarde Thawne. The only question now is how long until either (both?) are re-introduced next season? I’m putting the over/under at 3 episodes.

Okay… <fx Roy Batty> Questions! </fx>

I am not as up to canon on Flash as on other DC characters, so a few insights, please… other than

Golden Age Flash’s

helmet flying out of the wormhole as fan service, what could it, and Thawne’s comment “it means it’s time for me to go” mean in story context?

I concur that the magical wormhole is going to fix pretty much everything and both Eddie and his pesky g-g-g-g-g-g-grandson will be back, and that because R-Flash still exists, nothing much will change in the character or story plot, except whatever the writers want to push around a bit.

Also, how long was Hal Jordan missing before he returned to Earth?

DC Comics original 1960 version: Not at all. Abin Sur gave him the ring and basic instructions, then died. The Guardians monitored him secretly for a year before contacting him. They let him learn his way by trial and error.

DC Comics revised 1990 version: About three months. Hal Jordan was in jail for 90 days on a drunk driving charge. The Guardians abducted him from his cell, leaving a duplicate behind, and took him to Oa for training.

The 2011 movie: I’m not sure, but it seemed like only a few hours tops. No one back on Earth appeared to have noticed he was gone.

Could mean a number of things: Possibly Thawne has encountered helmet’s owner before, and deciding to get out of Dodge before said owner turns up. Possibly Thawne didn’t recognize the helmet, but merely recognized that something weird was happening, and the sooner he leaves the better. The actual existence of the helmet may mean that the show is going to invoke superhero from a) the past, or b) from an alternate universe, or it could be a throw-away joke (helmet turns out to be from a FTD display that got caught up in a time wave). We’ll find out.

While I would love for him to be brought in as a mentor, these shows, both Marvel and DC, like to throw in visual and verbal Easter eggs to comic fans that are never followed up.

Amateur Barbarian, while I’ve far from an encyclopaedic knowledge of comics, I’m fairly certain that Eobard is most closely associated with Barry (and Wally), not Jay. Not that they’ve never met, but the Reverse Flash is the (Barry Allen) Flash’s ‘Joker’.

So … which DC Comics super-powered character is Cisco going to become?
“Alternate Timeline Viewing Man” doesn’t seem to be a name in the DC canon.

I think his powers might be a little different than the comic book version.

They should have hired Dr. Micho Kaku as the writer or science advisor for the show because all the confusion about time travel could have made more sense.

I just hope they give Cisco that costume…

If you want to watch the speed force scene in slow motion:

Spoiler for next season. Don’t want to say much more for the spoiler averse.
The Flash’s Rick Cosnett Joins ABC’s Quantico as Gay FBI Analyst

Eddie won’t be back, at least right away. His resurrection will have to wait at least until Quantico is cancelled (or he is killed in that).
