Flew flees from former flock, finds for faith

Forsooth.

Anthony Flew, 81, well-known British atheist writer, has renounced his lifelong belief and become a deist. He claims he now has “more or less” scientific evidence that god exists.

It looks like the “unbelievable complexity” argument was a factor in his conversion.

In his own words:

I’m all a-twitter. I can hardly wait to see what new and convincing evidence he has to offer.

Let’s turn him over to Richard Dawkins and see who survives.

Figures.

Flew’s finally finding faith figures fortuitously for fellows of fourscorean feats. Few fated for fallopian fields forever.

Feh!

It’s the old “death bed conversion” bit.

I thought I’d seen this before. You did notice the article’s 10 months old, right?

It’s so odd to me that that this would convince anybody. It’s like “I cannot see how nature could have come up with this; so nature CANNOT have come up with this.” How egotistical to assume nature can only do things that one can easily understand.

News travels slowly in some circles, and ABC still has a link on their current news page. Why – you think Flew has flip-flopped again?

I’m sure there was a thread about this previously, but I failed to find it.

Perhaps you’re thinking about this thread, about Michael Behe.

Nope, I’m not reading that one, and the one I’m thinking of was several months ago.

Ah, here we go:

“Anthony” was misspelled, which is why my previous seaches failed.

More accurately, I searched for “Anthony”, which was the incorrect spelling, the man’s name is Antony.

Apparently ABC news, reporting that in December 2004, hasn’t caught up with the latest waffle by Mr Flew: http://www.secweb.org/asset.asp?AssetID=369
