Florida Hoops player Keyontae Johnson collapses during game

Story here Florida Gators star Keyontae Johnson in critical but stable condition after collapsing on court

I was watching the FSU/UF game this morning (11 am ET start) and saw part of this. Horrible to see, he’s in critical condition right now in a hospital

Whoa, I hope the kid is okay.

This former FSU Seminole hopes this is not what that Gator is suffering and wishes for a speedy and full recovery for Mr. Johnson.

It very well could be myocarditis, which can be caused by a range of different viruses but corona seems to be a real trigger.

I have a sneaking suspicion that they’re going to find more of this … sort of … post viral myocarditis endomyocardial fibrosis … particularly in these “long haulers …” than we think:

Being young and healthy, you could easily be among the walking wounded, having no real idea and no obvious symptoms … until …

Wishing him the best.

It could end up being something else. The last time I was watching an event live on tv and something like this occurred, it was Atlanta Thrashers goalie Ondrej Pavelec. Was later classified as just a fainting spell

Best thoughts for the young man having a quick recovery.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Hamilton and FSU offered the Gators the opportunity to postpone the game - twice (once right after the incident when UF was leading and again at halftime after FSU had taken the lead). Sportsmanship is still alive in a few places.

I completely agree. I worry that this kind of incident is unfortunately going to become all too common over the next 5-10 years.

Here’s hoping! It is always scary to see one of these energentic young people go down, whatever the circumstance.

According to the latest from ESPN, Johnson is still in the hospital, in critical but stable condition.

Still scary as fuck:

He’s been released, which is good. He’s entitled to his privacy, but that’s a long hospital stay for a presumably healthy young man who plays college basketball at an elite level

Some good-ish news:
