…and his finger stays in it.
Now that’s football! The article is not for the squeamish, but apparently at some unkonwn point in the game, the top of Rashad Johnson’s left middle finger separated from his hand, and he didn’t notice.
First of all, I didn’t know fingers did that, and I’d like to think I’d notice if one of mine did. I do now find myself casting nervous glances down at my keyboard, though. “There goes one! No wait, that’s a carrot stick.”
Happily, the doctors have been able to reattach it. (Personally, losing my middle finger would leave me almost unable to drive). He has to watch out for infection, what with his stump and his stub having incubated in a sweaty grass-stained glove for a while, and there is no word on when he will be back. They play at Philly later this season, and it would be great if he made his comeback in that game, because I’m sure the Eagles fans would collectively salute his finger surgery in some appropriate way.
