I live in Dallas, and my Grandmother has offered to buy me another house if I move to Florida. Yes, I have always been spoiled…and it continues into my 30s.
Anyway, I am wondering if anyone here lives in the Crystal River, Inverness, Homosassa Springs area…and can give me some idea of stats on the area. (I have visited before)
I attempted the US Census website, and the Citrus County website and found a few bits, but I am wanting to know what people think of the area.
That area of Florida is great. There are lots of natural springs around there, all with crystal clear water and plenty of it. There are a lot of horse farms up that way, if you are into horses. Inverness is just up the road from the Withalacootchie State Forest and the Ocalla National Forest. Camping in both forests is great and there are plenty of hiking/biking trails. The local rivers are great for canoeing / kyaking, if you don’t mind sharing the water with a few alligators—they won’t bother you, if you don’t bother them. Fishing up there is wonderful and, if you care, there still exists a sizable population of native black bear.
Real estate is reasonable and is a great investment. That area of Florida is sure to grow, although that is a mixed blessing.
My true love Marcie and I spend weekends camping up there every chance we get. I say, go for it.
Those are two stats that I am aware of…I meant crime, age groups, jobs, etc.

Thanks for the great information. I am looking at the move as a great opportunity to reinvent myself, and it sounds like I can get a lot of wonderful outdoor exercise with spectacular scenery.
