I have heard other horror stories:
a guy who had a generator stolen at gunpoint
a guy who got a roll of visqueen (sp?) for free and sold it for $500
people who have gotten CO poisoning from running their generators indoors
In other news, the prison my husband works at got their power back yesterday, so maybe other locations in Hardee county will get theirs soon, too.
I’ve had birthdays like that, but they were planned that way.

In other news, it also became my 22nd birthday about an hour and twenty minutes ago, which is another good excuse to drink.

Glad to hear your power is back on. I saw a news report this morning which said the reason why it is taking so long is that the storm destroyed some major transformers. Right now, most people that have power basically just have band-aided (is that a word?) systems, and it will take at least a month to get the system back to the way it was. They did say their first priority is getting everyone power, then working on the system, however.
Did you hear that those people on Food Stamps will be reimbursed for the food they lost?

Er… in that case, I’m doing just fine, ma’am.
My kid got her power back yesterday, so she and her roomie spent a lot of time cleaning the fridge and washing dishes. Just in time for classes to start on Monday.
I keep wondering about the couple who sold us this house. The moved to the Orlando area just 3 weeks ago. What a welcomd to Florida they got!
Once again he lives down to his name.

Well I’m back in Louisiana now. I got home to a completely unconcerned roommate who hadn’t even heard of Charlie til 2 days ago! (she’s been on my shitlist for awhile anyway)
On a brighter note, I work at Blockbuster, and we got a memo today saying that we’re going to start collecting donations for Charlie victims. (not even in FL!) Anyone coming to my store better expect to be pestered.

Haven’t heard from Heppie but she probably went over to the coast for the weekend. She has relatives over there who have power. I am just amazed that there are still folks without power here. I’ve heard that there are small pockets that have been missed so anybody who’s still being patient…get mad and start making a lot of noise!
