Flouride - dental savior or poison?

Table salt isn’t the same as sodium intake. I use as close to zero table salt in my life as is measurable. I’m not dead. I get a quite healthy amount of sodium from the natural content of what I eat. Many many people do the same. The ubiquitous salt cellar on the table is a hangover from a different age.

Fluorine in table salt would put the dentists up against the cardiovascular fraternity. On one hand, add table salt to help your teeth, on the other, reduce salt to help your blood pressure.

So, let’s step back from all our assumptions and preferences.

Why can’t we depend on toothpaste to deliver the recommended fluoride, instead of water? Because, I have to tell you, most of the tap water I ingest is from brushing my teeth.

Is fluoridation really reaching many people these days?

because toothpaste fluoride is topical since you spit it out, water fluoride is systemic, you swallow it.

Don’t forget that flouride isn’t removed by boiling or simpler filtration. So if you live in an area with flouridated tap water you are still probably getting tap water in your diet via hot beverages, water used to cook etc. even if you don’t drink it by the glassful.
