Flu+Excerise = Viral Infection of Heart?

I’ve just spent the past weekend with the flu and was recently given some unusual recovery advice. I was told I should perhaps avoid strenuous exercise (going to the gym, playing tennis etc) so as to minimize my chances of getting a deadly heart infection! Upon consulting Dr. Google, I was informed that said infection is known as myocarditis. So is there any validity to the assertion that cardiovascular exercise after the flu can kill you?

My WAG for how this might relate to exercise: The stress of the exercise overwhelms your already spread thin immune system, giving the virus the upper hand.

Seems pretty confusing, that site says that exercise boosts immunity, but too much exercise lowers immunity.

apparently true

“Exercise in the acute phase of an infection may promote complications including myocarditis.”

neat, thanks!
