never got the flu vaccine in the past, but decided to this year. got it last Saturday. then yesterday (a week later) I ran a low-grade fever (99-100 degrees,) had some joint soreness, and a general feeling of “bleh.” Today, my temp is back to where it normally is (97-98 degrees,) no joint pain/soreness, just a bit of tiredness from lack of sleep last night. To me, this sounds like the “minor immune response” that sometimes happens after receiving the vaccine. But to me it seems like it should happen sooner than a week after getting jabbed. Most of the stuff I read from the usual places say any mild symptoms happen “soon” after, but nothing specific as to what “soon” means. Is this one of those YMMV things, or maybe it was something else I picked up?
The few times I had the mild symptoms, they happened about 4 hours after the jab and went away within a day. You may have had a mild case of food poisoning in this Crack Pott’s opinion.
This has been my experience also.
Mine was even faster than that. I got the flu shot this year one day in late October around 4pm, and by 6:30 I was running a 102 fever. It lasted about 24 hours, then it was gone. A week later seems kind of late to be related.
that’s what I’ve been thinking. some other things going on point to it being some form of food poisoning.
I got mild symptoms for the first time this year, and it was less than 24 hours later. Don’t forget that the shot, even when it is a good match to that year’s flu strain, takes 14 days before it’s as effective as it’s going to be so it’s completely possible to get the flu anyway those first two weeks after the shot. This year’s shot wasn’t very good, anyway, so a lot of people are going to get the flu anyway because we weren’t immunized against this year’s most prevalent strain.
