We got some preformed hamburger patties the other day. Put them in the freezer. Thawed them out, and my son made one last night. Then he put the rest back in the freezer. Please tell me I can still use them.
Yes, you can use them. They might suffer from texture a little bit, but they’re perfectly edible and safe.
Thanks! I can thaw them out first? It would take forever to cook if I did it frozen.
Shoot, I just looked, he didnt completely cover them, the container is open.
They’re fine. Cover them now. Thaw to cook if you want. No worries.
You can still use them. The texture won’t be what you would expect.
My rule of thumb is to only take out what I need, so I avoid the double freeze/thaw. That being said, you CAN take frozen patties and throw them on your outdoor grill. Give them a kiss of your favorite salt mix, and slap a slice of cheese on them after you flip…Yumm City!
Yes, in fact, if you have thin patties (we’re talking under a quarter pound) and prefer lesser levels of doneness (medium rare), cooking directly from frozen may be the only way to go.
Just to throw in whatever weight a BS in microbiology affords to the argument, I say go for it.
