Food Experiments Gone Right!

During one of the horrid blizzards this winter, I was making myself some oatmeal, and decided to mix in a spoonful of peanut butter. It tasted amazing!! Thick and creamy and nutty … this should be the standard way to serve oatmeal! So what’s your favorite food experiment that ended up tasting awesome?

I once had to throw together a dinner for some traveling Europeans in the gourmet foods business with 90 minutes notice at home. I was watching the kids at the time so I could only use what was in the fridge and freezer. We had gourmet cheeses and fresh vegetables already so that was easy but I needed an entree. All I had enough to serve everyone were pork chops but nothing to go with them. I made up a marinade and glaze that worked so well, it is the only homemade recipe I ever saved.

Pork Chop Marinade for Two Pork Chops

4 tablespoons Worcestorshire Sauce
2 Tablespoons Honey
3 Tablespoons Real Butter
2 Tablespoons Quality Barbecue Sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s)
1 Squeeze of 1/2 lemon

Marinate Pork Chops for over 1 hour
Grill on low for approximately 5 minutes a side. Do not overcook

People honestly said it was the best pork chops they ever had and they weren’t ones to bullshit anyone. It takes quality meat and outdoor grill skills to make it work but it did and quite well.

Topping Stuffed Peppers with Salsa instead of Tomato Sause.

On the other hand, topping Tuna cassorole with crushed vanilla cookies instead of bread crumbs. Not so good. Lables are a good thing.

Oh crap this thread already exists. How do I report this thread so it can be merged?
