What? It was hot!
The spiciest food you ever ate
A friend gave me a couple of habanderos from their garden. I knew that they were spicy but I didn’t know how spicy I unwitting I chopped them up and put them in seeds and all.
I like spicy food but this was barely edible. I eventually decided it wasn’t worth the pain and threw it out.

Our family ate at a Thai family’s house. One soup looked clear, pale and absolutely harmless, but a small spoonful was enough to tell me that it was painfully hot. My dad incautiously took a big mouthful and, as he told us later, didn’t want to say anything to offend our hosts, but it was so hot that tears streamed from his eyes.
I tried to Google it, but all I found is that Thai clear broth is usually not spicy.

I was at a salad bar and thought I was adding some sliced green salad olives. I’ll never make that mistake again!
