85, I think. I can’t remember if I’ve had alligator, but if I did, it was part of a stew like dish with lots of other flavors, so I won’t count it. And I’ve had Sea Urchin Roe, but that’s cheating.
'Bout the only thing I wouldn’t try (if you were paying for it) is fugu. Just outside my comfort zone, breathing wise.
Never heard of a Bellini, but now I really want one!
I’ve had 66, I think. Not counting again. And I am counting sea urchin even though I didn’t have it in a restaurant, but rather broke one open and swallowed it on a dare on the beach.

Abalone.
2**. Absinthe**. On a Prague Dopefest. A Doper showed us how to drink it, including the ritual with the soaked sugar cube that you set on fire.
Alligator.
Baba Ghanoush. No, but I want to because it comes up in novels all the time and I hate not getting the reference.
Bagel and Lox
Baklava. Lots of Arabic enthic stores in my neighbourhood and they all carry a wide selection. It’s pastry drenched in sugary hony-like syrup. Much too sweet for my taste.
Barbecue Ribs. The have them at Ikea nowadays. Greasy fingers and lots of bones on your plate afterwards!
Bellini
Bird’s Nest Soup. Not the real kind, no.
Biscuits and Gravy
11.** Black Pudding.** That’s blood sausage, right? It is kind of a local speciality. I eat it as a quick snack/lunch, baked with pieces of apple, on bread.
12.** Black Truffle.** Only oil or sauce scented with it. It took me a while to understand what it was supposed to smell and taste like. I kept expecting something heavenly, but it smells like someone left the gas stove open. 13. Borscht. I make this all the time. It’s a on-the-table-in-5 minutes dish, if they sell cans of boiled beet roots in your supermarket. 14. Calamari. Those deepfried rings? Yum. A snack sold by many restaurants here.
Carp 16. Caviar. Yes, in Prague. Ikea sells a cheaper kind of fish roe. and also a vegetarian caviar surrogate made out of seaweed, that is awesome. 17. Cheese Fondue. Easy nice dish, sold in pre-made packages you only put in the microwaven. We eat it once a month.
Chicken and Waffles (together, at the same time) Wait, what? 19. Chicken Tikka Masala. In all Indian restaurants, no?
Chile Relleno
Chitlins
Churros. Deep fried sweet dough strands. Not in the Netherlands, but there are churros stands in Belgium. We have our own kind of sweet deep fried dough: Oliebollen.
Clam Chowder 24. Cognac.
Crab Cakes 26. Crickets. Yes, in a museum exhibit, on a dare. 27. Currywurst. Yes, another common thing here. If you go across the border to Germany, suddenly you’re in Wurst heaven. 28. Dandelion Wine. A friend made it years ago. I liked it more then regular wine. 29. Dulce De Leche. In Spain. Caramellized milk. 30. Durian. Only dried, bought in an oriental shop. Meh. 31. Eel. Dutch delicacy.
Eggs Benedict
Fish Tacos
Foie Gras. Torture, Ill pass.
Fresh Spring Rolls
Fried Catfish
Fried Green Tomatoes. No, but want to.
Fried Plantain, Oh, baked banana! Never tried, it, I assumed it tasted like banana, only baked. Perhaps I was wrong.
Frito Pie
Frogs’ Legs. Those poor frogs.
Fugu
Funnel Cake 43. Gazpacho. Cold fresh minty tomato soup on a hot day, what’s not to like?
Goat
Goat’s Milk. No, but it is sold in mainstream shops here for kids with an allergy to cows milk. 46. Goulash. Yes, a very ordinary, even stodgy dish here.
Gumbo
Haggis 49. Head Cheese. Brain perserve. A local speciality here. Nice, a bit sour.
Heirloom Tomatoes. My supermarket sells about nine different races of fresh tomatoes. 51. Honeycomb, Yes, sold in a jar of honey. Spread a bit of honeycomb with the honey on buttered hot toast. Mmmmmm…
Hostess Fruit Pie
Huevos Rancheros
Jerk Chicken
Kangaroo
Key Lime Pie
Kobe Beef 58. Lassi. Again something you know if you visit Indian rstaurants. Do they even have those outside big US cities? Lassie is a wonderful, dessert like drink, white, creamy and tasting like mango. I once ordered three glasses with my meal.
Lobster
Mimosa
MoonPie
Morel Mushrooms. I bought them dried and planned to make something impressive with them, but so far it hasn’t happened. 63. Nettle Tea. Yes, it is in my selection of regular herbal teas. Nettle soup, I like more. Nice to make in spring! And my mainstream supermarket sells nettle cheese, yummie.
Octopus 65. Oxtail Soup. Meh. 66. Paella. Yes. Not my favourite.
67. Paneer. Indian young cheese!
Pastrami on Rye
Pavlova
Phaal
Philly Cheese Steak
Pho
Pineapple and Cottage Cheese 74. Pistachio Ice Creammm. It doesn;t taste like pistachios, though. How does that work?
Po’ Boy
Pocky 77. PolentaMaize dough. 78. Prickly Pear My MIL in Spain has them in her back yard. Those have mean tiny thorns. I set out to peel one and had splinters in my hands days later.
Rabbit Stew
Raw Oysters
Root Beer Float
S’mores 83. SauerkrautSure. Is that so unusual? Mainstream dish here. Nice to snack on raw.
Sea Urchin
Shark 86. Snail. In France, on holiday. All you really taste is garlic butter, but still, ew.
Snake
Soft Shell Crab
Som Tam
Spaetzle 91. Spam
Squirrel 93. Steak Tartare 94. Sweet Potato Fries. No, but sweet potatoe everything else.
Sweetbreads 96. Tom Yum. Thai soup? 97. Umeboshi. We had that as a condiment in my Moms macrobiotic phase. Salt fermented prunes. Yech. 98. Venison. I may have, at Christmas at my grandparents.
Wasabi Peas. Nice.
Zucchini flowers. Sure, my neighbour had a vegetable plot and eating zucchini flowers was the only way to prevent getting overrun with zuchinis. Man those grow* fast*.
I like foods and I like shopping for exotic foods in ethnic stores. But I have to say, I haven’t done that in the last ten years and I miss it. :; sigh::
