I have a box of candy cigarettes sitting up on my desk. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…chalky.
I saw some at Rainbow a while ago. They had A&W root beer and some other kinds. My friend Linday always has RC cola and orange and grape pop in the mini cans. They are so cute!
While on the subject of mini cans, does anyone remember those Mario sodas? They had Mario, Princess, Luigi, Yoshi, maybe more, in mini pop cans. I think Yoshi was apple flavored, and I remember liking it. I don’t really miss it, but it was kind of neat.
I am so mad that I never tried OK soda when it was out. All my friends talk about it and are, for some reason, unable to describe the taste. Oh well…
This is not exactly a food but, I sure did love Pop Rocks. So did my cat! Shes dead now, but I still miss those crackling bits of glucose.
I’ve seen them crammed into a type of space-aged popsicle they sell now, but its just not the same as dumping a load of explosive candy into your mouth.
I bought some pop rocks just yesterday, Linear Crack.
She died because you gave her those killer Pop Rocks and they exploded in her little kitty tummy, right?
sorry, I couldn’t resist
Back when I was in elementary or junior high, a company made little single serving cakes. You just mixed the batter, then poured it into a little plastic dish and put it in the microwave. Hmmm…instant hot cake. I haven’t seen these lately, but they were really good.

Actually, she got off easy and fell off my 3rd floor balcony and broke 3 legs. By the time I got home from work, she was pretty much a goner. Though I’m pretty sure she would have prefered Pop Rock Death over that.
Which reminds me! Anyone ever eat doggie biscuits? I can’t remember the name brand but they were shaped like little bones Yummm!

Yep, they still make it. Every year, my aunt gets a bottle of it for Christmas.
Celery soda? Ick. For many years in the back of a kitchen cupboard, lurking like an archaeological relic from another age (which it was), we had a box of celery-flavored JELL-O. No joke. It was (according to the “serving suggestion” picture on the box) for use in making vegetable salad: add in shredded carrots and whatnot. We never did open it and try it.
Kinsey: Are the slabs-o-gum you’re thinking of Bub’s Daddy? They were (my memory sez) a long rope of gum about 1/4 inch thick. The grapes were fantastic.
They quit making Team Flakes!?! That was one of THE best cereals out there.
Yep, as a matter of fact I’ve got some in my kitchen cabinet…
You can buy some at http://fizzies.com
Eric
Well, that makes three of us…
Linear Crack, I’m sorry, it seemed like such an easy joke. I have cats, too, and would hate it something like that happened to them. I’m so sorry.

No, that doesn’t sound quite right. That gum seems similar, though.
I really want to say it was Big Buddy.
How 'bout those Kool-Aid flavors that have gone away?
Purplesaurus Rex and Sharkleberry Fin were my absolute favorites. Now, I have to rely on Riptide Rush Gatorade to get my fix (kidney stones be damned!).
Banana Fudgesicles. I’d cut yer dam’ throat fer wunna them thangs.
I think the 21st Century is gonna be a bust. There are NO PLANS to bring ‘em back. Yeah, I fuckin’ called, and they said NO! I thought the death threats on the CEO’s life would impress 'em, but I guess they don’t like his OTHER decisions, and he’s expendable. They called my bluff.
Well, although this soda is still here, i have a feeling it will be gone within the year: Code Red Mountain Dew.
It tastes just like cherry juice (reminds me of when I would drink the leftover syrup in the bottles of cherries when they were empty.)
I don’t like regular Mountain Dew, but the Code Red tastes nothing like it, it’s good! Alas, I am alone here and I’m sure it will be gone.
Oh man … Buffalo, New York is the forgotten food center of the universe. Maybe the city’s role as a living, breathing anachronism pit has helped – not only can you get Quisp there, but every Pepsi and Coke product is available in 16 ounce glass bottles. Also plentiful are restaurant menus that are literally unaltered from 1953, where practically every item contains the words “roast” or “fried.” No “New American Cuisine” in Buffalo, no sir-ee …
By golly, there was such a thing. Didn’t have it around my place, though: Big Buddy Gum.

**When I was in Maine last ( a loooong time ago) they had, at there local McDonalds (I swear I am NOT making this up) McLobster. Any Maine Dopers out there to confirm this? Do they still have it? **
As of last Christmas, McDonalds restaurants in Maine still offered the McLobster. I’ll be vactioning in Maine next week, so I’ll see if they’re still carrying that sandwich.
Nobody mentioned Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy! The vanilla was my favorite with bannana second best. Put it in the 'fridge for a while then smack on a hard surface. Unwrap and devour all the little pieces.
Also, Flavor Straws. A drinking straw with a flavor “sponge” inside. It flavored and colored your milk chocolate or strawberry as you drank it.
Bonomo’s is no longer made, but Flavor Straws might still be around.
Has anyone ever heard of Milk Break Bars? They were around in the mid-80s. They were sort of like Nutty Bars, but with Oreo-like chocolate or vanilla filling instead of peanut butter. Boy do I miss those. And Jello Pudding Pops too.
