Hey lads and lasses… Dutchboy208 has just returned from a trip up to Blacksburg, VA to see the Virginia Tech Hokies beat the crap out of my beloved Central Florida Golden Knights.
They were scared for a while though, and I was all over ESPN (South enzone, black UCF jersey and a big yellow banner).
The point is, I’m ready for football… I’m ready for tailgates, lazy Sundays, and heavy beer consumption, and most of all, I’m ready for SportsCenter to have something else on than baseball…
How do you feel about (American) football, dear Dopers?
I feel that football is best left to the pros, and that there is nothing quite as boring as watching VaTech or Nebraska beat the crap out of the athletic equivalent of Sister Mary’s School for Blind Nuns on saturday afternoon. They should cut division 1-A back to about 40 or 50 teams, and give every matchup some excitement. Let everyone else play a more balanced schedule.
I love NFL ball, but just can’t get in to the college game, which is a problem here in the South. But god, I can’t WAIT to kill Sundays watching large men in uniforms beating each other senseless for the good of me and my fantasy football team.
I somewhat agree with Flymaster, but it’d just be a lot easier if the NCAA wouldn’t let I-A teams play anyone other than other I-A teams. Miami, Nebraska and K-State’s schedules would be a lot more respectable (Miami’s been a lot better in this regard recently).
I agree. Will Nebraska be playing Miss Steinsland’s Afternoon Kindergarten team next? So many seem to schedule fluff so they can get a record that puts them in one of the Baby Gold Bond Medicated Powder bowls or one of the other eight gazillion bowls out there.
